Do you believe Republicans/Tea Baggers will actually take up arms against this government as they have threatened with their "2nd Amendment Remedies" or is it all just more hot air?

Blustering and posturing is about all they really have.

for carrying the water. Never to be trusted again. Never.

5. No, but maybe one or two nuts
They could even if they win. But generally no, I think we've seen this before in the whole "militia movements" we've seen in the past. But there's always some Ruby Ridge or McVeigh nut running around.

8. Ahhh, the big "IF". We'll never know since I highly doubt Dems will pick up any seats.
If the Democrats were to pick up any seats or have inconsequential losses we will read here at DU how you cannot believe the polls.

If the Democrats were to lose either or both houses of Congress we would read here that it was because of the MSM, that it was a conspiracy and there was massive voter fraud. It seems that it can never be admitted that given the state of the nation and how people feel about incumbents, and Democrats in particular, that the majority of those who vote might actually prefer Republicans to Democrats. We just cannot understand why everyone does not have the intelligence to see things exactly as we do.

14. Ah - and your preference of the rethugs over dems comes as a result of
what exact wonderful example have the rethugs done in recent past to make you and others like you believe they will do better? I am not particularly enamored by the results of the dems. I would have preferred them to have gone full blast progressive and bolder while they had the mantle of power. But to suggest that the country will be better served by the rethugs, is to me, a day dream of "flying monkeys" in the sky.

16. If you think I prefer rethugs over dems, then you are full of shit.
Where from my post did you ever get the bizarre notion that I was suggesting the country will be better served by the rethugs? I've been voting for and supporting Democrats for the past 38 years.

I am however in touch with reality and the reality is that the Democrats are very unlikely to pick up any seats and it is a victory if they maintain control of both houses of Congress. It is also reality that there are people in this country who do prefer Republicans and I can accept that and deal with it.

Maybe it's time to brush up on the reading comprehension skills that you don't get from fictional novels.

when people here talk about massive voter fraud I believe they are actually referring to real cases of voter fraud. Maybe I'm wrong.

18. My point is that sometimes you just lose and many cannot simply accept that.
They need to have some larger conspiracy to explain it away.

9. The first thing they will do is claim that the election was stolen...
Somehow, Democrats rigged the voting.

They will then begin attacking the most moderate of Republicans (this is from their point of view not ours) and claim they lost because of those Republicans who were not conservative enough.

Before the breaks out in civil war, the Republican party will rip itself to shreds with a renewed party purity drive.

Our nation is polarized and armed, but the leadership of the party wants power and its perks not bullets and IED's.

I suspect we will see more lone crazies acting on their own after listening to Beck, Limbaugh, and their ilk. States, especially in the South, will renew their claim of a tenth amendment right to secede. But the election is not a Fort Sumter event.

10. They will blame the moderates in their party and demand
rightwing purity from all office holders. They always turn on themselves. Look for Snowe and Collins to become targets of their hatred.

Michael Steele will be blamed, and he is not one to go quietly.

12. That is he and Palin have been "palling around" lately.
He may act the arse, for whatever reason I do not know but he is not entirely stupid. So when the purity battles in worship of Bible Spice, the Great Snow Queen of Alaska he will not face the backlash.

15. If they blame the tea party they fear a third party. If they blame Steele,
they just reinforce the racist Republican image. It is the TP'ers that have the money, the anger, and the ear of the media.

Sarah, is not doing it for the party, she is doing it for herself. She is building up political capital she wants to use in 2012. The main line Rep politician keeps her at arms length. That will be will be seen as disloyalty in the months coming.

20. I agree.
The rules have already been changed in the GOP to stop Palin, except her supporters are so stupid that hey have not actually noticed. Once they wake up and understand that there will be an actual war within the GOP.

If you think the 2008 Primaries were bad on the Democratic side then you have not seen anything yet Even better, the troublemakers from that primary are now firmly in the Palin camp and will kick up far more stink.

Oh well good to watch them fail again.

11. I do believe the main stream tea bags and republicans
will just still continue to scream and yell. But I will bet anything that there will be small groups and single ones who do cause mayhem. And the Democrats won't have to win over big, if the status quo does not go to the republicans they will retaliate.

13. They aren't a real group--they're a commercial cast for a GOP Pol spot.
there may be some lone kooks who take up arms and attack a liberal, but most Teahadists are too old and infirm to go to war. They're all on Medicare with scooters and oxygen for heaven's sake.

19. I frequent many gun enthusiast sites, and often post that many Democrats own and can use guns.
Edited on Tue Oct-12-10 02:20 PM by old mark
They don't like to hear that over on the right wing - they used to assume that all guns were owned by Republicans and all Democrats hated and feared to touch them. They are unnerved when told that Democrats can shoot, and that manyDemocrats/Liberals/Progressives are military veterans.

On many sites, my sig line is, "Another armed Liberal Veteran." Some people refuse to reply to my posts because of this, some ask questions...many of then notice and some even PM me to say they are liberals, too, but afraid to say so on pro-gun forums.

I think when they are confronted with reality, they will have some second thoughts about going to violence to get political power. It would not be the walk in the park they imagined it would, on many levels.

as long as we hold the majority in both houses it is a win for us. We can pick up more seats when Obama is on the ticket in '12

And personally, I do not wish to see America punged into yet another bloody civil war - we're still feeling the aftereffects from the last one.

Dramatic standoff for a few days, the SWAT moves in, RW congresscritters defend them against "government excess", LW gains power from RW asshattery.

Bring it on. Fewer teabagging nuts AND fewer loony congresscritters.
