Will he appeal it?
The Obama administration's Justice Department has sixty days to appeal todays DADT ruling and as far as I know is under no obligation to do so.

Will This administration appeal the ruling? Will an announcement, one way or the other, be made prior to the mid-terms?

What would be your reaction if they did decide to appeal it, after having promised to end DADT this year?

1. I'm going to wait and see happens
but I'll answer your final question which is I would be upset if he decided to appeal it.

3. I'm in the wait and see camp as well. No sense in getting worked up over news that isn't yet news.

2. Why would Obama do that?
Why?

Why borrow trouble where none exists? Why beat Obama up with ridiculous, nonsensical hypotheticals?

6. If you are GLB (not T unfortunately) and in the military this is a very important question
If someone comes out now because of the court order and the Administration appeals its likely they will be discharged under DADT. Its a valid question.

7. It's hardly ridiculous, it's a real possibility and I am no beating anyone up.

You proceed from a false assumption.

I wanted a chance to ask those duers who always seem to be more informed what their opinions were.

12. I can see the idea of trying for a SCOTUS ruling to settle it once and for all
Of course, that'd be a safer bet with a somewhat saner SCOTUS...

14. Exactly
In fact the DOJ could see it as something they have to do.

Some of the other circuits could decide differently, too. They could wait until there is a conflict among the circuits, which sometimes develops on an issue and encourages the SCOTUS to grant certiorari.

15. If they don't appeal the ruling it will be settled once and for all
with no need of making it go to the SCOUTUS. The order of non-enforcement is world wide so the issue will not come up until we have intergalactic wars...

4. He's got 60 days and the question is not will, but when...
they'll wait until after the election, of course.

17. Technically, he already has...in September when she issued her order...he appealed..
she denied, now the option is to appeal AGAIN...to a higher court.

5. After three Federal court rulings within one month
the administration would look pretty foolish if they continued to defend this ridiculous policy. Given the majority of the population - including most Republicans - are in favor of allowing gays to serve in the military, it could even arguably have a positive impact on the elections if they announced their agreement with the court rulings.

10. Didn't your Dad create Gays?
And didn't you teach us how to treat society's "outcasts?" ( Please note the irony quotes; I'm not being mean to any of God's children. But you probably already knew that. )
