Why is this event so covered?

I agree. I’m afraid I’m being self-absorbed but I was bored after about 10 minutes. It seems to be a distraction from the election as well as what Obama is doing to our country. This is an uplifting story, but in the big scheme of things, probably isn’t that important except to the families involved.

We can empathize with them and that keeps us glued to our tv or computer. Psycopaths don't do that. They are no more moved by the miners'
plight than they are by so many poisoned cockroaches. After all, the miners are just a bunch of brown people who speak a foreign language.
