What The Hell Is Wrong With Minnesota?

WOODBURY, Minn. - U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann will report $5.4 million in 3rd quarter fundraising later this week, a figure that smashes records in Minnesota and appears to set a new national mark as well for Congressional candidates.

The official reports aren't due until October 15th, but campaign adviser Andy Parrish confirmed Tuesday night that the $5.4 million figure is accurate. He also confirmed the reports will show the money came from roughly 100,000 donors nationwide.

That's $2 million more than the second-term Republican form Minnesota's 6th District raised in the entire 2007-2008 election cycle, when she hauled in $3.4 million. She had already broken her own campaign record by the end of the 2nd quarter, according to reports submitted to the Federal Election Commission.

As of July 21st, the Bachmann campaign had raised a total of $4.5 million and spent $2.1 million in the 2009-2010 cycle. The $5.4 million covers the months of July, August and September. Her recent fundraising appeals have used Minnesota visits by Joe Biden and Bill Clinton, and one planned by President Obama, to motivate donors to step up their giving.

3. What The Hell is Wrong with Georgia?
For pete's sake! We have a congressional district in the eastern central part of Minnesota that has a Republican Congress member. We also have Al Franken.

Are there any Republican Congress members from Georgia?

Unrecced for silliness.

12. Am sure a lot of it is coming from out of State. And definitely coming
from business and the Chamber also. My experience has been that because St. Cloud has become big medical it is also big pharma and related. That is why she rails on and on about "Obama-Care". I talk to people that support her and they are as ignorant as she is unfortunately. And they own businesses that contribute to her. No arguing will fix this as everyone I have spoken to in the last year (that support her) is an "angry and non-sensical" temperament. We have to hope some have gotten tired of her rants and greed and lying.

some sort of event and of course at the College awhile back. I know someone (business owner) very Pro-Bachman and I had gotten the impression that much is behind the scenes and out of the public's eyes. I do not think it has anything to do with her making appearances or not. It has all to do with money and the huge amount of flowing to her from both some businesses there, elsewhere and money from out of State.
Her campaign has nothing to do with the people and interests of the people. It is all money and connectivity to major corps and business interests.
The only way to remove her is to educate the voters to that and hope they vote against her.

13. That's OK. I live in MN and come January I question it too.
Of course you haven't lived until you've experienced a winter in Canada which makes MN look like a tropical paradise.

You want crazy, check this out. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2010/01/01/canada-polar-bear-dip-new-year.html

Of course it could be argued that countries like Canada and Norway (etc) are cold countries filled with reasonable democratic folks. Is there a connection between extreme weather and civility? I think so. If you know that being kind to your neighbor could just save your life if your car breaks down or skids into a ditch one cold winter night and your neighbor is the only person who might find you before you die, well.... you just naturally make sure you are kind and polite.

31. They're either ignorant voters poisoned by propaganda or very wealthy individuals with money to burn
The problem is many people are poorly informed through outlets like corporate news stations or talk radio. There's no real balance at all. Right wing viewpoints dominate because they are backed by very wealthy interests that have a vested interest in polluting the political discourse with intentional falsehoods and half-truths.

While I too wonder why Bachmann keeps getting elected by the good people of Minnesota, I think that perhaps you should blame her warchest on the fucking carpetbaggers.

I know it's not a popular view here, but the longer I observe the political landscape the more convinced I am that only folks who have a direct vested interest should be pemitted to fund or volunteer to advance a candidate or ballot initiative. Carpetbaggers ought to tend to their own districts and mind their own damn business.

18. What is wrong with Minnesota?
I can't answer that, because this is the same state that elected Al Franken, Amy Klobuchar, Keith Ellison, and is poised to elect Mark Dayton as governor.

In fact, Minnesota has gone Democratic in every presidential election since 1976 and is the only state not to vote for either Bush or Reagan either time. Massachusetts, New York, and California can't say that.

Minnesota is one of the most civil, cultural, and litereate places on this planet, and it would kick your ass if it weren't so nice.

Bachmann, I believe, is an anomaly produced by a narrow set of voters and national special interest money. After all, the same state that elected Joe McCarthy elected Russ Feingold. Go figure!

those inidividuals who are permitted to donate are directly impacted by the results of the election. That means local residents. Not a political or special interest group.

20. Breaks my heart because I heard Tarryl Clark speak. This woman is brilliant!
Articulate! Exposes Michele Bachmann for who she really is: an opportunist who doesn't even care about the citizens in her district. She's running a national campaign, more interested in power and visibility.

But because there's an "R" after her name, her supporters don't care what she does. In the Battle of Good (Bachmann) and Evil (Clark and evil liberals, Democrats), anything goes! One can be as corrupt, offensive and hypocritical as one wants...that is, ONLY if said person has an "R" after their names.

The Republican Party--win or lose--is the most disgusting piece of shit this country has ever witnessed. Its members are hellbent on destroying this country if it means that they get power in return.

(Off to donate again to Tarryl!)
