Sharon Mitchell was a porn actress until she was raped on her own doorstep by a crazed fan. IIRC, while recovering from the attack and learning that she was still disease-free, Sharon realized that she was sitting on a tidy sum of cash and that other adult film actors were still in danger of STDs from any number of sources, including on-set. So she dropped out of the film business, got a PhD from some outfit in California, and has been working to enhance healthcare and disease-prevention standards in the porn industry.

It's a little strange that her clinic is being relatively uncooperative in helping investigators track down the source.
