A long, long time ago...
Before Saint Ronnie came on the scene, good, honest Americans really had a not so easy task in choosing between some Republicans and some Democrats who ran for public office.

That was the time when most Republicans actually felt it was was their job to be good caretakers of government and not treat getting elected as some kind of hostile takeover of enemy territory, like it is today for the GOP.

Well obviously, thirty years after the slow destruction of one political began, the nation is left with a GOP that's fully controlled by some of the bat shit craziest motherfuckers that I've ever seen in my entire life. I'm sure that you all feel the same.

And guess what, they're coming after all of our throats.

I hope that you haven't forgotten about that.

So you have to ask yourself, (If you're mad) who are you mad at and why? And if you're spending a hellava lotta time concentrating your anger on people WHO AREN'T BAT SHIT CRAZY REPUBLICANS, you should also ask yourself, why is this a good thing with the elections coming up just around the corner?

In case you may have forgotten this, those BAT SHIT CRAZY REPUBLICAN ASSHOLES don't like you at all and would as soon slice your neck wide open as they would take a morning crap.

Now, I wonder if it's just a little too much to ask if it's best to not try to engender so much resentment against the people who aren't BAT SHIT CRAZY REPUBLICANS for just a little while, at least until we get this little election thing out of the way? Because, like, every vote counts and it won't help our cause if some people are just too pissed off to vote, you know?

If you're mad, you're mad, I really do understand. We're Democrats... It's like herding cats at times, which make Democrats the fun party to be in.

But really, I think that we have a more pressing problem in dealing with all these crazy people right now. But, if some of us really think that spending a lot of time concentrating on side issues is a better way to go right now... So be it.

Hey... No harm in just asking, right?

2. Remember that the GOP of the '80s/'90s is NOT recent history for
some here. I think many don't remember the primary candidacy of Ted Kennedy in '80 and the all-out bloodlust politics that the GOP brought in the late '80s/ and '90s.

I didn't like Bill Clinton much, but I give him credit for thios--he was able to push back at the bloodlust politics of his era, all from the GOP.

Good thoughts, Mr.S. k/r

3. The time to lobby for your issue is before an election
not after.

4. The Democratic Party of today is in many ways what the repubican party to which you refer was then
The whole spectrum is shifting right. At what point do you think we should stop fighting that?

I don't want much except for what have always been *basic* Democratic positions. For that desire, I am insulted by some of my party's leadership and by its storm troopers.

And by the way, the last pony I rode was the Merry Go Round at Coney Island in the 50s.

Don't worry, I will, like virtually every other soul on DU and like every other aware, active, involved lefty leaner elsewhere vote Democratic. Bet on it.

But I'm not done calling it out when and where I see it. Not by a long shot.

5. But I think American Idol is on tonight..
That in a nut shell is what is wrong with the Democratic Party...Poor people feel they have no voice so why bother....The Democrats currently in Power have done absolutely nothing to change that perception...
