How is that "fiscal conservatism" working for ya Meg?

Buying a $200k job for $140 million sounds a bit like wasting $billions of share holder money to buy a free of charge peer-to-peer voice over ip phone company and then not knowing what to do with it. No one would do that right?

Is California really her "pet project" because she is now bored? What is there in California that would justify that "investment"?

3. greed and megalomania. Frankly, she has no vision. If I had her cash, I could have done
a hell of a lot more than she did with it to help CA.

10. Despite he money she does not seem that great at making it for others
such as shareholders. I mean what on earth did ebay ever want with skype?

A distributor maybe. So all three parts worked - buy skype?

Amazon will 1) Sell Your Thingie, 2) Get Payment, 3) Warehouse and distribute it. They are eating ebay now and that is the fault of this so called "fiscally Conservative, successful business woman".

So she now wants to control the budget of California?

Maybe she wants to use taxpayer money to buy Alaska in honour of Sarah Palin?

22. Well she hired an "illegal alien"
to do her dishes so that would count as charity work to her.

(PS I always laugh when I hear that phrase "illegal alien", it makes me think of ET or Starship Troopers).

Inside and out. Sorry. Flame away.

And I have often wondered exactly why she wants this job.

16. Only a one-shot has been who misses having power
To me, Whitman is the poster girl for idiocy. It's quite obvious the people don't want her to run anything. It has been for some time now, but she insists on following the definition of insanity. She will lose, and then she will spend even more millions buying ads telling Californians why they should have elected her instead of the infinitely more politically wise Brown. Since the only power she has is her money, she will use it however she can to try and salvage her image as a sore loser and political idiot.

18. This is exactly what I have been wondering.
She does not bother to vote for many years and then suddenly wants to be governor so bad that she spends $140 million on it. Why?

What does she see as the potential pay-off?

Here is my theory: She is a Wall Street (Goldman Sachs anyone?) front.

Wall Street owes a lot of money to California's pension funds. If Meg Whitman is elected, her first priority will be to relieve Wall Street of its liability to California's employee pension funds.

Mark my words. You saw it here first -- JDPriestly

19. Remember how Schwarzenegger let Enron of the hook
as soon as he became governor. That's what Whitman will do for Wall Street.

And when she leaves the office of governor, she will be richly rewarded (or so she thinks). That is my best guess.

20. Like ebay was richly rewarded for skype.
So stupid was her purchase of skype - they had to pay for it twice.
