Yesterday a rock band parked across 4 los angeles freeway lanes & performed on the roof of bus

October 12, 2010 (LOS ANGELES) -- A rock band will have to face the music after blocking a Los Angeles freeway and performing atop its trailer.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Rick Quintero says a big box van decorated with Imperial Stars' logo stopped on the southbound U.S. 101 near Sunset Boulevard at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, blocking four of the five lanes. The driver took the keys and fled in another car, then three musicians climbed on top of the van and began to perform.

Quintero says they were arrested but the heavy truck remains in the lanes, causing a mile-long traffic jam.

Quintero says a tow truck will be brought in, and the musicians could face charges of obstructing traffic.

1. If they'd cracked open a keg and a huge bag of weed, I wouldn't see the problem there.
Idiots.

2. I think that's cool! Especially since their site says they're committed to helping homeless
children!

Of course, I wasn't sitting in LA traffic at the time!

15. Helping the homeless is cool. Causing a traffic jam won't make people sympathetic to the cause
Not to mention the possibility of accidents and injuries.

Stupid, if you ask me.

3. Spinal Tap lives...
way to piss off potential fans!! I understand wanting to make a name for yourselves and sometimes stunts are a part of it, but in L.A. people already face the worst traffic in the nation.

If they are willing to face the fines for it, well - rock on! You got your publicity!

17. My brother commuted that way for ten years
and we were all so happy when he gave it up. He's 8 years younger than me but that commuted made him gray. :scared:

6. sigh
sounds like a case of marketing over product.

Imperial Stars Block 101 Freeway at Rush Hour With Terrible Rap Song
http://www.aolnews.com/surge-desk/article/imperial-stars-block-101-freeway-during-rush-hour-to-perform-terrible-song-about-traffic-jams/19671236

"On its website, the group proclaims that it is trying to raise money and awareness for the plight of homeless children in America, but their YouTube videos, one of which is deemed to contain inappropriate sexual content for minors, seem to deal more with the physical attributes of women."

"With just 175 friends on MySpace and only 14 on Facebook, the Imperial Stars can use all the publicity they can summon."

So, a brand new band says they are going to donate money to the homeless, and that is cool - though it seems like they might be able to donate, what, the proceeds left-over from last nights pay to play gig at the Whiskey?

In the meantime they caused a helluva a lotta stalled traffic and add to the pollution of LA in what really looks like an attempt to market a pretty crappy product.

9. Throw them in jail and charge the maximum.
This sort of thing could have set off chain reaction accidents. People could have died. Depraved indifference, inducing panic, obstruction, fleeing the scene, whatever sticks. Narcissistic jerks!

11. Did anybody actually give these guys a listen? Ugh.
They're just awful, like mind-numbingly awful. It's just douchebag clubby bar band garbage. These guys shouldn't quit their day jobs as the obnoxious sales clerks in the drums section at Guitar Center.

If I'd personally been stuck in traffic listening to that no-talent shit for more than 5 minutes, I think we would've had a Falling Down situation on our hands.

16. What did they think was going to happen? People would leap out of their cars
for an impromptu dance party? They'd pick up thousands of new fans by providing a free concert to commuters - who would much prefer a rock concert over getting home and having dinner with the family?

18. The charge? Creating a traffic jam in the middle of the traffic jam.
Seriously, I'm not sure anyone would notice in L.A.

19. OMG, if you haven't seen their video, you must.
It's the weakest band I've ever seen in my life. I honestly can't tell if it's a joke or not, but I'm afraid it isn't.
