The 18-year-old driver of the car that struck and eventually killed 26-year-old Jessica Bedient has been arrested, Omaha police announced Wednesday.

Officers took Aaron Danoff into custody as he was being released from Creighton University Medical Center, booking him on suspicion of felony motor vehicle homicide.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine confirmed that evidence appears to link the Saturday's crash at 144th and Q Streets to alcohol use by the driver of the westbound Chevrolet Impala that ran a red light and slammed into the Toyota occupied by Bedient and her newlywed husband, Tony.

Danoff, an Omaha resident, was cited in Sarpy County in August for speeding and driving with a blood-alcohol content of more than .15. That is more than twice the state's legal limit for Nebraskans old enough to drink.

Court records indicate that days before Friday's crash, Danoff entered a pretrial diversion program related to the August DUI case. But Sarpy County Attorney Lee Polikov said that was not the case.

2. He is 18 and was driving drunk. Hmm... who got him his alcohol?
That person should be arrested too, under the same rule where a getaway driver in an armed bank robbery is deemed legally equally responsible for anyone that dies in the holdup, even if they didn't fire a gun.

The person who supplied the 18 year old with alcohol should also be held criminally responsible for any deaths resulting from said 18 year old's drunken behavior.
