"Democrats have slammed third-party groups this election season for running attack ads without revealing their funding sources.
But Robin Carnahan’s Senate campaign is offering criticism on a different plank. One of the television spots targeting Carnahan, her campaign says, features a picture of her while she was being treated for breast cancer.
The ad by American Crossroads, the group backed by GOP campaign guru Karl Rove, uses a photo of Carnahan in which, the campaign says, she was wearing a wig while undergoing chemotherapy.
"This is just another example of how these out-of-state corporate special interest groups will say and do anything with no regard for facts or tact,” campaign spokeswoman Rachel Barinbaum said. “What Congressman Blunt’s allies are doing is not just offensive to all cancer survivors but to all Missouri families who will not be fooled by these disgusting attacks."
Carnahan was diagnosed in 2006; the treatment was successful."
