Frankly, I think she needs to tender her resignation but when I googled her, I found out that she was being considered for Chief of Staff. I'm thinking that's off the table, to quote a familiar Nancy Pelosiism.

1. Why in the world would she be removed from the short list?
Why in the world would you expect her to resign or be fired?

2. I really didn't think I needed to spell it out
It's everywhere here and in the rest of the blogosphere. Yesterday, she said being gay was a lifestyle choice. She just became a huge liability to the Obama administration.

3. I think you give this President way too much credit for sensitivity to GLBT issues.
And I mean waaayyy to much credit.

7. I'm not saying he'll fire her because of a personal sensitivity
It will be purely a political necessity. He can't afford any more stupid moves around LGBT issues, especially this close to a surprisingly fluid midterm.

But hey, I've become used to being disappointed by this administration so maybe they won't even notice the fury. Goodness know, deafness has been a problem with this administration.

4. Doubtful.
They'll probably issue a statement saying she spoke 'inartfully'.

5. They're probably wondering what the hell was so wrong with what she said.

11. You are correct.
I have been thinking that compared to Rush and the tea parties he may be a liberal, but compared to Carter, Clinton and Obama would be to the far right. I have really lost all hope in real heath care reform. It will never happen because people will look back and say "We tried heath care reform in 2010" I think as a liberal, I would have been better off with McCain, at least I could have dreamed of having a progressive Democratic president. I do not think there will be one in my lifetime.

9. And don't forget my favorite Obama-ism, "teachable moment".

He will probably invite Fred Phelps and Valerie Jarrett over for some beers to discuss how they should all use the correct P.C. approved nomenclature while perusing their anti gay rights agendas.

10. Are you kidding?

Do you actually believe that Obama cares enough about
gay issues--enough to punish a longtime confidant and colleague for
an insensitive remark about the gay community?

Oh please.

I'll tell you what will happen. She will become COS, and in a couple of weeks Obama
will throw out a few verbal crumbs to the gay community--in the form of a super-cool
speech. But nothing will change. Nothing that is meaningful; nothing that will
further reform.

You don't have to own a crystal ball to understand what is going on.

12. Okay, maybe I hope the rage I see all over the net
tonight will have a more stirring effect. No, I don't think Obama cares about LGBT issues as much as I would like him to but the candidate was an astute politician. If it's Candidate Obama who wakes to this morning's rage, she will be gone. If it's President Obama, then I'm not as sure. But in the world I would like to live in, this sort of thing would have real world consequences.

Yeah, I'm an idealist. I admit it. I haven't forgotten nor forgiven the fact that the last administration was not prosecuted for war crimes. I haven't forgotten or forgiven that impeachment was off the table. I haven't forgotten Shirley Sherrod or Van Jones. I want them to do the right thing when they've done the wrong thing too many times in the last two years. I guess I'm hoping that today, the deaf will hear?

14. Fuck her
I hope she is on the short list for firing.

But that would mean President Obama gave a shit about gay issues.

And we know he does not.
