News outlets caution staffers about Stewart-Colbert events
NPR, like many news organizations, restricts its journalists from taking political stands, making campaign contributions, or participating in marches and rallies that the network covers.

Those rules can apply more broadly than just to Democratic or Republican events. NPR told staffers Wednesday that they are not permitted to attend the upcoming Washington events hosted by Comedy Central's Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.

NPR Senior Vice President Dana Davis Rehm, in a follow-up memo, said she was surprised at the media interest in NPR's decision to explicitly warn against attending the Stewart-Colbert rallies.

Yep, don't give any warnings for the Beck rally but for Jon Stewart's rally YOU BETTER NOT GO - IT'S TOO POLITICAL!

I HATE THE LIBERAL MSM......

1. I imagine that they didn't have to issue a warning about the Beck rally
Because few if any NPR employees would want to go to it, while I'm sure plenty would like to go to one of the Stewart/Colbert rallies.

5. Not really
I don't know her personally, but my guess is like a lot of media people, she's a centrist Dem.

6. Not a whole lot of centrist Dems work at Faux
as Mara does when she isn't on NPR.

8. Very true
But that doesn't detract from my point. I doubt she would want to go to a Glenn Beck rally. I actually think she's pretty good and I've always liked her. She seems to be all business and I rarely see her put anything personal into her analysis.

7. I,ve long considered NPR a hack news outlet.
The few times I've listened to them in the last few years, they bring on partisan hacks from right wing think tanks and treat them like they were some kind of unbiased source. They seem to slant most of the news a little to the right. I always suspect they are afraid of the word "liberal".
