The Department of Defense will of course obey the law, and the e-mail noted that, in the meantime, the Department will abide by the terms in the court's ruling, effective as of the time and date of the ruling'?

or 'Meanwhile, the Pentagon says it will not discharge gay servicemembers while the legal uncertainty exists.'?

4. So what was all this talk of "patience"?
That the administration were the good guys, they just needed some time to do things properly. And now when a gift seemingly falls in their lap and it looks like progress would be made in terms of gay rights, they fight it tooth and nail? The hypocrisy is mind-boggling.

10. What do you expect from a President who does not care about his LGBT supporters and citizens?
I think he has vocalized support for DADT repeal due to pressure from the majority in his party who wants this discriminatory and unconstitutional policy to end. I firmly believe Obama personally does not give a hoot about the law and is kowtowing to the bigots in the military in order to appear supportive of the military.

When nearly everyone in his own party is to the left of him on every major LGBT issue, the man can hardly be considered an ally of the LGBT community. Being the lesser of two evils is no longer sufficient or worthy of admiration and support.

6. I thought Gates was in favor of ending DADT?
The fundies in the military must be kicking up a real fuss over this. How about firing them since our military is NOT supposed to be influenced by any religious groups?

Maybe if DADT were applied to religious groups we might have influence on the military by religion.

9. He came out after the DADT ruling with some spew --
about how there were too many unanswered questions about how to "integrate" The Gays before they could overturn DADT.

12. Yes, but maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, I thought
he had said he supported ending it earlier. Thanks for the response.
