Is there ANY chance of Durbin or Schumer becoming majority leader even if Reid wins
Did u see the Nevada debate tonight?...Yes, Angle came across awful, with some of the go to conservative BS about Reagan, 10th. Amendment, constant mentioning of the constitution, blah blah blah, but Reid was way too passive and didn't go after her...Also, he said that though he disagreed w/many of his rulings, he admired Justice Scalia, :banghead:

Look, i don't want that nutcase Angle in the senate, but is there any chance Reid can be replaced as Senate Majority leader?...Can there be a vote...Durbin or Schumer are far more aggressive than Reid and assuming the majority is much smaller, we need someone much tougher as majority leader...

1. Durbin needs to be Majority Leader.
It's unlikely but we need a change. The Senate Democratic caucus is bringing down the entire party.

2. There is a vote at the start of every congressional session
That will be in January. The republicans will put up McConnell. I doubt anybody will challenge Reed, and if they do, it will at a dem meeting before congress starts. If 2 people from the dems are up for a vote, McConnell would probably get the nod. Not good.

3. I doubt it but I would love
to see Schumer. No one could call Chuck mealy mouthed or passive. I don't agree with him on everything but he is a really good Senator.

4. Agree. Reid looks, sounds and acts like a weakling. He is certainly not a leader either.
The republicans and the "Democrats" like Nelson, Landreiu, Lincoln, Bayh run all over him. They say he was a wrestler when he was young, so he must have some toughness. It never shows. Listening to him whine on the Senate floor is hard.

5. Good question.
Either Durbin or Schumer would represent a vast improvement, and perhaps shift the dynamics.

6. Schumer would be as bad or worse than Daschle or Reid
Durbin is basically a good guy, but I think of that incident a few years ago where he said something negative (but true) about the Chimp, and within 48 hours, Repukes had him literally in tears on the Senate floor. That's not a good sign of how he would stand up to them.

I would go with Russ Feingold, if his seat isn't stolen.

7. No. If Reid wins, no one is going to challange him.
Only if he looses will be replaced as majority leader.
