KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) -- Three more NATO soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan, raising the death toll over the past three days to 17.
NATO says one service member died in an insurgent attack in the eastern part of the country, while another was killed by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan. Their nationalities have yet to be released. A NATO statement also says that a French soldier wounded in a clash yesterday east of Kabul has died from his wounds.
At least 45 coalition troops have been killed this month. This is also the deadliest year of the nine-year conflict, shaking the commitment of many of the alliance countries. Almost 150,000 international troops and 220,000 Afghan security forces are struggling to gain the upper hand on an estimated 30,000 insurgents.
