Tides Foundation CEO To Fox News Advertisers: Drop Glenn Beck Or Have Blood On Your Hands
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/15/tides-foundation-ceo-glenn-beck_n_764470.html

In an extraordinary move to nip the inflammatory commentary coming from Glenn Beck, the founder and CEO of the Tides Foundation (a frequent Beck target) has written advertisers asking them to remove their sponsorship of the Fox News program or risk having "blood on their hands."

Drummond Pike, who along with his organization was recently targeted by an assassin inspired by Beck's program, penned a letter on Friday to the Chairmen of the Boards of JP Morgan Chase, GEICO, Zurich Financial, Chrysler, Direct Holdings Americas, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Lilly Corporate Center, BP, and The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc.

In it, he detailed the alarm he felt over having a "person carrying numerous guns and body armor" attempt to start a "revolution" by murdering "my colleagues and me."

5. Are you defending Glenn Beck and his actions?
Fear of Blood on their hands is why so many advertisers have left.

6. No
I believe what he is saying is that the advertisers knows that Beck's virulant hate speech lead to future injuries or deaths as a result of Becks virulant hate speech....the man that threat the Tides leader is in jail now.

"Words have consequences"!! I can't remember who said it...but it is true.

16. That's the problem in this country
we have to actual deaths to prove there is an issue? A stop light doesn't get put up until x amt of people have been injured or killed.

Two cops were shot by the guy in CA. Is that enough? They interviewed him in jail and he said that it was Becks rhetoric that gave him the ideas to attack the ACLU and the Tides Foundation. Beck has referred to these organizations as anti-American.

3. Beck is dangerous. No ifs, ands or buts.
Edited on Fri Oct-15-10 06:35 PM by Mimosa
I watched his 5 pm show last year for a while and through the spring. In the spring of 2010 the propaganda he was hysterically presenting showed me he is bent on having his followers 'rise up' and kill progressives. If I hadn't watched the program for a long time I wouldn't have gotten that.

17. I didn't realize Beck called himself a "progressive hunter"...

There's a lot of nastiness about Beck I need to become more acquainted with. I knew about his general approach and miserable worldview, but now I need specifics. I'll dive into Media Matters and see what lovely gems he's spewed forth.
