Fundie Bryan Fischer blames gay-straight alliances for gay teen suicides
from an American Family Association-affiliated website:

Bryan Fischer: GLSEN shares responsibility for homosexual suicides
Wednesday, October 13, 2010 11:23 AM

A rash of recent suicides committed by homosexual students has prompted a surge of interest in policies prohibiting bullying on campuses. Each one of these deaths is a tragedy. It’s heartbreaking to think of an individual reaching such a level of desperation that he would take his own life. It’s a grievous thing to think of families and friends who have been deprived of a loved one, his life taken by his own hand.

We oppose bullying, period. No one should be bullied because of the color of his skin, his deeply held religious values, or his sexual preference. There is no place for physical assault, verbal ridicule or harassment on school grounds. Simple Judeo-Christian principles of courtesy, kindness and respect for human beings made in the image of God argue against any kind of mistreatment.

Because our culture has contemptuously dismissed the value of educating students in the teachings of Christ, his Golden Rule, and his moral truths, a values-free environment has been created on school campuses where people feel free to tee off on people of faith, for instance, and ridicule and mock their sincerely held convictions about God and morality. There is no excuse for this kind of harassment. It’s time we once again introduced students in our public school system to the time-honored standards found in the Judeo-Christian tradition.

Physical assault should be punished, again regardless of skin color, religious preference, or sexual preference. All victims should be treated as full equals before the law, and we should not give greater protection to some victims of assault than we do to others. ............(more)

The complete piece (of shite) is at: http://www.afa.net/Blogs/BlogPost.aspx?id=2147499288

1. WTF?!
You didn't copy the worst parts. I won't either because those kind of words don't need to be spread at DU. People can click on the link if they want to see what a vile nut this guy is.

3. It was never my intention

to excuse her use of that phrase. I wrote repeatedly on that thread that the phrase was offensive. I understood it from the start. Your accusations against me are untrue and very offensive to me.

I don't think Obama is a homophobe and I believe significant progress will be made on LGBT issues by the end of his first term. That doesn't make me a homophobe and I'm not going to apologize for it.

4. you said in context her statement was just fine
and we had no right to be outraged. Mr. Fisher provides the real context of that particular phrase.

5. No, I did not.

Really, just stop. Get over your grudge against me and stop making false accusations.

Putting her words in context made it clear that she wasn't discussing the topic of whether it's a choice. That's what others had suggested. She stupidly used an offensive phrase while trying to be supportive of dealing with bullying against LGBT teens. Clarifying that fact was not a defense of her words and I never said no one had a right to be outraged. Stop distorting my words and stop attacking me.

6. I provided your words
you were crystal clear that we had no right to be outraged, like you nearly always do when it comes to the latest slight by this Administration toward gays. You have made it clear that gay rights aren't your concern. that isn't my fault it is yours.

7. It's time for you to back off, leave me alone, and stop following me around to falsely accuse me.
My post did not say what you claim it did no matter how many times you repeat your accusation. I've told you that several times and the words you imagined are simply not there. You can see that I called her comment wrong, stupid, and offensive many times in that thread. You are the one engaging in a very ugly cyber-bullying tactic. My only response from this point on will be to alert the mods.
