When was the last time you overheard a progressive loudly talking politics in a restaurant?
I realized today while at lunch that every single time I overhear someone loudly sharing their political views in a restaurant (or library, bank, waiting room, etc.), they're spouting conservative bullshit. Never have I been in a public place and been treated to a progressive (or even a middle-of-the-road moderate) loudly telling someone else about their political views. It's always some loud conservative just repeating whatever nonsense is part of the month's Republican talking points.

Has anyone else ever been somewhere where that loud talker was at least moderate and not an idiot?

4. Only if it's myself, actually. And I only do that when there is an asshole nearby as you've
described. I like the looks on their faces. (And for the record, I only try to be just loud enough for that person to hear my clearly... I don't start actual shouting matches in public, hahaha). I also like to pretend to be on the cell phone if I'm walking by someone getting out of their car with lots of anti-Obama stickers, loudly saying, "Yeah, I was talking to this FUCKING moronic TeaBagger today...". Another fun one. :)

11. It's a REALLY fun one. I actually did it to J.D. Hayworth! He was outside of a Starbucks here
in north Scottsdale. I walked within about 18 inches of him, pretending to be on the phone, saying, "Yeah, the guy in the primary against McCain... total batshit crazy TeaBagger... think Bachmann." THAT was fun.

10. I was just at a dinner arguing progressive politics with a moderate republican.
I guess you just don't live by me. I am not ashamed to declare myself a dem or to support our President. I have to shout on this board in support of our President as much as I have to shout
at my Repub friend. I was just telling him how ridiculous it has become to support our Pres., and how popular it is to attack him from either side.

I'll talk as loud as I want in a restaurant or just about anywhere and talk trash about Republicans. No one has ever even tried to call me on it. Wifey tells me to settle down, my reply is a standard, "I don't give a s***!"

15. In my younger years back when GM worker friends were telling me how great Reagan was and how he
would save them from the evil tax man I would end up in heated discusions about how brain dead they were. Then when Engler came out and destroyed GA under the guise of saving them tax dollars, it was rather amusing how even after Engler cut welfare their state taxes remained the same as before the cuts, then they started being laid off and I'd ask how are those Reagan tax cuts and Engler attacks on welfare working for you now, which ended up making me friendless. But since the 90's I grew up and learned you can't change a true believers mind, they have more excuses then Carter has liver pills on how the poor R's have been derailed by the evil D's, media and liberals. You can't fix stupid and its a waste of time to try when everything falls on deaf ears.

18. Only when I wear a fur coat into a vegan restaurant and order a steak
Just kidding, naturally.

We ate at a nice vegan restaurant in Dallas (http://www.spiraldiner.com/) and I just LOVED the ambiance there. Nothing quite like being in a room full of progressives to make your dinner a truly happy meal.

But in this red-red-red area you hear the loud-mouths all the time. Sigh. It ain't Berkeley, that's for sure.

Before Palin opened the door to these people they were decent enough to stay in the closet. Now they think the world wants to hear all about their racist jingoism. If only they knew how much they embarrass themselves and their countrymen!

27. Never. And right wingers always bring it up first at a family gathering
while we decide to be pleasant and avoid politics, they can't help themselves. They bring it up, because they don't care about annoying others!

and enjoy myself, not talk politics.

But no, no loud discussions from moderates about politics. But then generally they are talking to a good friend, and I'm listening in because I catch a few key words. :)

30. It’s true of emails, also
I never receive an unsolicited email touting progressives whereas all my RW relatives will send the most inane dribble espousing the latest RW talking point even though most know that I am a liberal. If I attempt to refute the lies they either write back with more of the same or say that I can’t take a joke

33. I Heard A Woman
at the local Chinese restaurant making comments against Democrats. She was leaving at the same time I was and her toddler daughter smiled and tried to talk to me. I said, what a beautiful little girl, what her name? Her mother replied "Palin, I named her after Sarah." I said, 'well, I hope she is smarter than her namesake.' The mother was speechless. I just smiled and waved bye bye to the little girl.

The places I go to are either so noisy I can't pick out individual conversations, or so quiet that a person doesn't have to talk loudly.

I'm not loud, but I'm sure people nearby can hear me. In fact, I hope they do. More liberals need to do that, IMO.
