SUPERIOR — A surprising new political poll according to the Phoenix Press on Tuesday shows Democratic Congressman Raul Grijalva and his Republican challenger Ruth McClung, both of Tucson, are in a dead heat for Grijalva’s Congressional seat. Grijalva has been getting voter back lash for his call for an economic boycott of Arizona over the state’s new immigration law and his opposition to the new proposed $4 billion dollar copper mine east of Superior.

Ms. McClung, who is a rocket scientist, was in the Town of Superior Monday with U.S. Senator John McCain. McCain was holding a press conference before a group of some 80 persons in the VFW building.

1. More from the article
'At the very beginning, McCain’s press conference had been disrupted for about 15 minutes by a man who was heckling the Senator and the crowd who was demanding that the intruder leave because of his loud yelling and profane language. When approached by the Superior Police Chief, the heckler was handcuff and arrested after he began scuffling with the law enforcement officer. Loud cheers and applause were given as police took the man away to the town’s jail.'

What's the beef here? He was loud? So were the hecklers of the heckler. Profanity? That's been ruled to be free speech, if memory serves. A good lawyer would get these charges dismissed tout de suite, but I suspect the police already know that. The arrest has value as an intimidation & harassment technique, so these bullshit cases will continue.

Also, I must comment on this sloppy mistake in the text of the article: '...the heckler was handcuff (sic) and arrested...' As 'handcuff' is spelled correctly, it got past the spellchecker. That's where good editing & proofreading - obviously missing - comes into play.

2. For some strange reason, I expected this story to be about Margaret Heckler giving McCain...
...a public hard time.

Maybe I need more sleep? ;)

3. Gee look at the difference
Heckler arrested at McCain rally.....then Obama is heckled. Kinda like different actions taken there folks isn't it. Way it always is, the republicans are treated like royalty and the Democrats get stepped on.
