from Bernie Sanders, Kidding Ourselves
These are tough times. People are angry and frustrated. As an Independent who believes that the Democrats have not been as bold and aggressive as they should have been in addressing the many crises we face, I share that disappointment.

However, let's not kid ourselves. If the Republicans take control, their sole mission will be to represent the interests of the wealthy and powerful and ensure President Obama fails.

If you've been sitting this out because of frustration or apathy, it's time to wake up and realize the gravity of this moment. We simply can't allow the Republicans to win, so I'm urging you to act right now.

You are part of a grassroots army that is already half a million strong. You are the one who will make the difference in this election.

Click here to rush $5 or more to the DSCC before midnight tonight. They need $74,232 before the deadline or they might lose winnable races. Give now and their matching campaign will double your impact.

Let's not make a difficult situation even worse by sitting on our hands this campaign and pretending that the election results won't matter. Trust me, they will.

We can't allow the Senate to be overrun by Tea Partiers who care more about failure than progress. So please, give to the DSCC immediately. The Democrats are locked in 15 incredibly tight races that could be determined by a handful of votes. If they lose 10 of them, they lose the Senate. They need your help to pull ahead.

Is there any question what these Republicans will do if they take control of Congress? They'll bring back the reactionary policies of the George W. Bush administration. Actually, some of these Tea Partiers are so extreme, they make Bush and Cheney look like moderates!

Health care, financial reform, Social Security, clean energy, rebuilding our infrastructure, fair taxes - anything addressing the real needs of working Americans will be vigorously opposed. Any proposal from President Obama would be stymied by their obstructionist tactics.

Click here to donate $5 or more to the DSCC so they can raise $74,232 before midnight tonight. With only 16 days until Election Day, there's no time to waste. And if you give right now, your donation will be matched dollar for dollar - doubling your impact!

We've got to make sure voters understand who these extremist candidates really are so they make the right choice on November 2. The DSCC is doing just that, but they need more resources. There are 15 races within five points, and the GOP needs just 10 to take the majority. If we can just get the DSCC the funds it needs, I know they'll make the difference in these tight races.

Already, the DSCC has gone into Delaware, Connecticut and Colorado and shifted the momentum. Now we have to make sure they can get involved in all of the 15 races that are neck and neck. Every single one of them is within five points, so every single one of them is winnable. But only if you donate right now.

Click here to give $5 or more to the DSCC so they can raise $74,232 by the midnight deadline. Your donation today will be matched dollar for dollar, which doubles your impact. Please help the DSCC meet their fundraising goals. If you don't, they could lose the Senate.

These Republican and Tea Party candidates are being flooded with cash by corporate CEOs, special interests and third-party shadow groups. The only way Democrats can keep up is by building on their 500,000 grassroots donors. I've seen what the grassroots has done in the past, and I know you can do it again.

Sincerely,

Sen. Bernie Sanders

6. I think Bernie S's point is that they have a real chance of control, not just obstruction.
I think that eventuality would—or should—make you want to pick a different emoticon to decorate your post.

7. Poppycock! The Democrats are HANDING the midterms to the Repubs
A broken, Bush-fatigued, dead Republican party

The majority in both houses AND the Administration

A President with more political capital than any contemporary has enjoyed

Yet the Democrats have been filling their diapers claiming 'obstruction!' since 2008.

It's bullshit

12. Then Bernie Sanders' message would have been different.
The fact remains: obstruction is one thing, gaining control over future events is another.

I share your disdain for how Democrats have dealt with things. The question for us now is, do we throw the baby out with the bathwater? Do we let the Repubs have control again, and what will that mean?

I don't know.

13. I like Bernie Sanders
But I don't agree with him this time. The democrats failed me and I won't donate a dime.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, "Even with solid majorities in both houses democrats have done no more than the republicans allow them to." You guys can fear monger all you want, I haven't seen enough improvement over the last congress to get all worried about losing those majorities.

15. You, as a Texan, should be more enthused than anyone
We have a real chance to rid ourselves of Governor Goodhair. Why on earth would any Texas Democrat pass up that chance?

20. you're mistaken
<<<"Even with solid majorities in both houses democrats have done no more than the republicans allow them to.">>>

the senate does not and never did have a solid dem majority. obama never had 51 reliable votes to move progressive legislation forward. for the past 2 years the most powerful faction in congress has been the blue dogs + lieberschmuck.

14. The DSCC uses money to help elect Blue Dogs.
If you work for a living, don't donate to the DSCC.
They will use your money against your economic interests.
Donate DIRECTLY to Progressive Democrats with a solid track record.
