Joe Miller supporter: He “bowled over” my 8-year-old son, “didn’t care at all.”
by GottaLaff

A witness to the Joe Miller/Tony Hopfinger incident was a Miller supporter. Not any more:

Lolly Symbol says she drove in from Big Lake with her two young sons because she was a staunch Miller supporter and wanted to ask him a question about his stance on gun control. <...>
Symbol said Miller became angry with an elderly woman who asked him about his military background. “He ended up getting really huffy with her,” Symbol said.
Then along came Tony and his big, evil, threatening camera, and Joe skedaddled out as fast as his little cowardly legs could carry him:
She said Miller tried to get away from the reporter and in doing so put his hand on her arm and pushed her aside. Her 8-year-old son, Vincent Mahoney, was standing right behind her, and Miller bowled him over in his attempt to get away. “I don’t know if didn’t see him or didn’t care, but he didn’t say ‘excuse me’ or ‘I’m sorry’. He didn’t even turn his head,” Symbol said. “He simply did not care at all.” <...>

“I do not believe that did anything wrong,” she said. “He was rude and he was aggressive but that’s just what the press does. Legally he did not do anything wrong that deserved to be put in cuffs.”
“The whole thing just made me sick,” she said.”I was a big supporter of Joe Miller, I really was. But not anymore.“

Wait. Just. A minute. Miller pushed her aside? Isn’t that what he accused Tony Hopfinger of doing? Isn’t that why Miller’s (unlicensed) goons cuffed him?

1. Reminds me of the movie "The Dead Zone" with Christopher Walken.

3. This sounds like a Stephen King novel come to life
"The Dead Zone", in which a presidential candidate tried to hide behind a kid in order to avoid being killed.
Ok, maybe it's a bit of a stretch, but Miller sounds like a coward and so did the character in the King novel.

7. So he ran over a kid, like that is anything new for a GOPuker.
I hear Newt runs over 20 babies a day, with a monster truck in the morning. Otherwise he says his day just wouldn't turn out right. Also cuts the heads off doves and drinks their blood in front of a table of mega-suits. Says it makes his manliness 10 factor over the billionaire crowd of mind controllers.

8. This woman totally ambushed Big Ed this evening on his program.
He apparently expected her to say what she's quoted as saying in tht OP, but she backtracked and completely defended Miller and criticised the reporter.

There was some reference to her "receiving a phone call" from someone before the show, but Ed was caught off guard and I'm sure the Teabaggers are celebrating it.

So, was Lolly threatened or paid?

13. She sure did. CC Transcript
A's republican senate
nominee joe miller is doing
damage control.
He is defending his goons for
detaping and handcuffing an
innocent journalist for 25
minutes on sun date a town hall
meeting.
He claims the alaskan dispatch
editor, tony hotfinger, was out
of line and even followed him
into the bathroom.
My next guest didn't see it like
that she witnessed the whole
incident.
Lolly Symbol joins us tonight
from anchorage, alaska.
Lolly, please clarify one thing.
Was this a public or a private
event?

>> This was a public -- it was a
private event but the public was
invited.

>> Okay.
So, anybody could have gone to
this you didn't have to sign up
or give money?
This was open to the public,
they could just go to this
school and be a part of this
town hall meeting because that's
the way it was billed is that
correct?

>> Absolutely.

>> The reporter in question, in
your opinion, did he deserve to
be put in handcuffs?

>> He did not deserve to be
arrested constitutionally.
No.
He was overly aggressive toward
joe milner a way that any normal
person who was not nearly as
cool-headed as joe miller was
able to maintain would have
probably put him on the floor
right then and there.
I appreciate the fact that joe
miller maintained his cool
enough to be able to just walk
away from that, but no, he was
not constitutionally in the
wrong.
He does have the right to
freedom of speech.

>> Was mr. Hopfinger in your
opinion, over the top in his
behavior as a journalist?

>> He was rude and awfully
pushy, yes, I was actually
just about to stop speaking and
interrupted me, so yes, he was
definitely on the rude side and
overly aggressive.

>> Was he threatening to the
candidate?

>> No he wasn'T.
He posed no threat.

>> Were you wear of the security
people that were there?

>> Yes, I was.

>> And did they act as if they
were in some official capacity?

>> Well, they all had ear
pieces.
I mean, I didn't really speak
with them by any means, but they
all had ear pieces and looked
official, yes.

>> Does this incident change
your view?
I understand you are a miller
supporter.
Does this change your view of
the candidate?

>> That did not change my view
of the candidate, no.

>> And do you think that, as a
layman, just a citizen watching
this, that this should -- that
this reporter should follow
legal action?
Would you understand it if he
did?

>> No, I don't think that he has
any means for a legal action
against joe miller or the
security team.
The -- mr. Hopfinger was
definitely overly aggressive and
joe mill per, you know, I can't
blame him at all for walking
away.
He, you know, was just
simply --.
Okay.

>> Trying to protect his up
personal life and, you know, his
personal life absolutely has
nothing to do with whether or
not he is qualified to be U.S.
Senator or no.

>> Lolly symbol, I appreciate
your time tonight.

------------
Ed seem to cut it short and never mentioned the phone call from miller.
