Twenty years ago, Professor Hill described how the now Supreme Court justice subjected her to descriptions of pornography he had watched, bragged about his own sexual prowess in graphic terms and famously reached for a soft drink in her office and remarked, "Who has put pubic hair on my Coke?"2

Having been a victim of sexual harassment before it got into the cultural vernacular, I just wanted to slap him during those hearings.

I had just started a job working for the sweetest guy in the world when the trial was on TV. The job prior to that I had left because of sexual harassment, so the wound was free. And I knew that Anita Hill would never have come forward if so much was not on the line---I was the same. I did not come forward, I just quit the job. But, if that asshole was in line to be a Supreme Court Judge, I would speak up today. I understood.

These days, the women would have kept the photocopies as proof of harassment and he would never have made it onto the Supreme Court; I guess back then they just had no choice but to act like nothing was wrong if they wanted to keep their jobs.
