Is fear on our side this year?
Edited on Thu Oct-21-10 09:15 AM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Throughout the post-9/11 era I have noticed a trend of people becoming more afraid as the election approaches. I think it is always there, but hadn't been so obvious before.

We happen to hold elections during the most depressing part of the year. As the days get shorter people turn security-minded. (Store food for the winter!)

In 2002 and 2004 I could feel that security-mindedness set in during September-October, favoring the pugs.

But fear cuts two ways. When the fear is foreigners and terrorists people like Republicans. When the fear is losing your job, being unable to get life-saving medical treatment, a secure retirment... those fears cut our way.

It feels right now like a few people are revisiting whether this is the right year to destroy the government.

1. It's a two-sided sword in my area.people think dems are the devil.
...and if they turn their faith to God(AKA right-wing religious wackos) - all will be saved.

it's a toughie to compete with.

3. There are rational fears and there are irrational ones
Being afraid of Park 51 and "Obama's Nazi-Socialist Agenda" are irrational.
