... they are not permitted in many polling stations. The (ostensible) reason? A local voting supervisor in MD told me that electronic devices may produce RFI signals which AFFECT THE VOTING MACHINES ... thus establishing that electronic voting machines are unreliable and should be banned.

So of course, they banned cell phones and video cameras instead.

The editors caution against potty mouths, letters containing bad language will not be published; heckies, last week they wouldn't post one of my comments until I removed the word 'sleaze'. But the vitriol is there, and pretty much dominates the boards. Funny, the paper calls them "discussion boards", but ever since the freepers took over there hasn't been any discussion, just shout-downs. It's like trying to communicate through a fog of teenaged angst.
