The Bush Lie

by David Michael Green

...........

Even today, as Bush's economic depression spreads misery across the land.

It's astonishing that the guy is taken even remotely seriously, let alone that he has not been thrown in jail or met the same fate that the Tsar or Il Duce did.

It's astonishing that he would dare to publish a book less than two years after having wrecked a world so thoroughly.

In just what sort of country can something so shameful happen?

Yep, trying to mythologize the Bush presidency is not going to be easy.

If this were Sweden or Canada, that is.

But this is America.

1. I was out canvassing
and one of the people I ran into, a Democrat no less, said he thought Bush did a good job. WTF?

2. His only regret: not privatizing Social Security!
Not privatizing Social Security so the economy would have failed 6 months into Obama's presidency! For Bush* everything was almost perfect, until the banks collapsed!

4. What is amazing to me
that even though he won re-election, by the end of 2005, he had almost completely squandered his "political capital" and his approval ratings had taken an irreversible tumble from which he never really recovered. It's unfortunate that we couldn't have recalled him in 2006 because I bet he wouldn't have been able to hang on- although I guess it's a good thing that we can't do recalls here in this country b/c the teabaggers would've already started around a petition by now for recalling Obama (though he would ultimately hang on IMHO).

5. Bush* born with a silver spoon, but squanders it!
The man who truly fucked up everything he touched continues to plow on. Just when the Republicans are ready to sneak back in to power, Bush* opens his mouth about Social Security.

Now I'm not running anyone's campaign, but how can a Democratic candidate not capitalize on two things: Bush* and the demise of Social Security. Our national campaign committees should have video and commentary done and get it into the media markets by next weekend. Will they capitalize? Probably not.
