Those ads by a right-wing front group called "Latinos for Reform" -- urging Latinos no to vote for Democrats in the coming election because they haven't delivered on comprehensive immigration reform -- may not be turning out to be such a hot idea:

But the fever-pitch backlash to this advertisement suggests the message could bring about just the opposite effect, by energizing a Hispanic voting bloc that may have been lethargic with a new and compelling reason to get out and vote — by and large, for Democrats.

1. The Latinos I've spoken with

say that it is being perceived as a move to disempower the Latino community. I don't think most of them are buying it at all.

6. one of my hispanic/latino friends
talked with me about 'unleashing the tiger', when the 'illegal alien' schitt started up again---

my opinion---that 'tiger' will 'strike back' and will be a huge consideration in the CA election- as well as elsewhere.

go boxer and brown!

2. You can only imagine how much active discouragment it takes
to make Latino voters "lethargic" when they come from a culture that stays out on the streets for months with pots and pans when their elections are stolen in Mexico.

4. This is apparently brought to you by people who see the average Mexican-American as
this:

That is, when they're not risking life and limb to come here to do back-breaking work in the hot sun.

5. In Washington state
Illegals who can't vote are out going door to door encouraging those who are legal to vote for candidates like Patty Murray who instead of the idiot Dino Rossi! I read it in the newspaper today. If we can get out the latino vote, women, the other minorities, and all the democrats, we can make the republicans eat their words about the so called "republican landslide"! No mater how much money they get from overseas, from right wing millionaires and billionaires, and big corporations that want to outsource american jobs, we can still beat them with the "VOTE"!

I hope all their dirty unethical tactics backfire on them come election day!

13. Don't these idiots realize that using immigration as a wedge issue hurts them much more then us
The problem for the GOP with these attacks on Hispanics is that the voters it scares into voting against 'illegal immigrants' will easily forget the message in a few weeks, or whenever you wave some other issue in their face to get their attention. Hispanics on the other hand don't forget that kind of pandering to racists who hate Hispanics. Look at John McCain, he used to be one of the few republicans loved by Hispanics, but then he flip flopped on immigration in order to win the GOP presidential nomination, and Hispanics never forgave him for it, and on top of that the antiImmigrant racists STILL didn't trust McCain, giving him the worst of both worlds.

14. If anyone deserves the worst of both worlds,
McCain does. And let's throw in the worst of three worlds, the otherworld! Created by God, so he could punish those He knew would "sin" even before they were born, 'cuz god knows everything, and McCain once supported not stoning to death the EVILLLL gays and yet served, honorably, as the New Bob Dole Loser so he could lose in 2008, and made sure of defeat by running with Sarah Palin, just in case it wasn't obvious enough he should lose.

Yet McCain lives on, proudly doing the opposite of WWJD, and parrotting whatever the ultra-rich who are running the repig party tell him to do, so he can buy a few more beach properties. This, apparently, is th' Murican way. Praise Jebus.
