giving bush "just what he wants". OK, it was on CNN, so who knows. Anybody know what's really happening?

1. Apparently AP is reporting the same thing. At first, I thought we were
rolling over yet again.

But then I realized, the timeline was effectively non-binding in the first place. So really, all our intrepid congressional leaders are doing is admitting that it was a toothless gesture to begin with. Doesn't that make it all better?:sarcasm:

Seriously, Pelosi, Reid, et al. better notice the public isn't much more impressed with them than with Commander Codpiece.

3. It seems to be true
The Dems have surrendered, they will give Bush what he wanted, but they'll insist that it's not a "blank check", and will try to make the best out of it.

In the end more men and women will be killed, wounded, and thrown on the scrap heap.

Let's see if the Dems go to the wall for the troops and veterans with the Defense Appropriations Bill for FY 2008, somehow I think they'll do the same thing that they've done here.

But, then again I could be wrong, let's just wait and see!

4. you heard correctly. No profiles of courage here
So what has really changed about the Democrats in Congress for the last four years?

Many are the same who voted for the IWR and Patriot Act

Pathetic

8. The only reason the Democrats will get my vote in 2008 is the Supreme Court
but to be honest, I don't even know if I can trust them on that, it is just that I know where the republicans stand

I was hoping this was just unverified bullshit but it's all over CNN.

I pray it's not true.

9. this just sucks, now what, are they going to wait till September
maybe the repigs will take him down. here's a article in Raw Story about it.

http://rawstory.com/news/afp/Democrats_step_back_from_timeline_o_05212007.html
just a snip

Democrats were Monday poised to drop their insistence on including troop withdrawal timelines in an Iraq war funding bill, in a move which could for now, defuse a standoff with President George W. Bush.

Democratic leaders in the House and Senate were still hammering out details of the final bill with Bush aides on Monday, which they plan to send to the president this week after a weeks-long showdown over control of the war.

11. You know what?
Count me out. If Democrats aren't really going to be the opposition party and aren't going to going to carry out the clear will of the people with the powers given them by the Constitution, then they shouldn't be surprised when people like me just say, "Screw it! I ain't votin' for either of the parties of war." I just can't justify it to myself anymore.

12. I want somebody in the MSM to point out that Chimpy the Boy King
has refused even a NONBINDING GOAL to leave Iraq. This is very important--he won't even take a SUGGESTION, one that he can ignore if he so chooses. That is the level of arrogance and dictatorship we are dealing with here, and NO ONE in the MSM is pointing this out to the American people.
