FOLLOW THE MONEY is still one of the most important rules of any Congressional Investigation.
No matter how corrupt individuals may be, in promoting their political agenda and sealing their power, MONEY is the glue that holds it all together.
The Enron investigation was never fully investigated, and the employees and shareholders were never compensated for their losses. Likewise, the states like California which were defrauded by extorted energy contracts have been left high and dry.
Banks and lenders which made the frauds possible have negotiated slaps on the wrists and moved on free of prosecution, and in many cases being allowed to keep their ill-gotten gains.
If there is no real investigation and exposure of those who profitted, this conduct will repeat itself again and again. That is where we are today.
Incarceration of the underlings will not change anything. Holding those who profitted responsible and taking away their money --that would change things.
