Poll: A Democratic Comeback in Ohio Governor’s Race?
Could the Ohio governor’s race really be a toss up?

A new poll found John Kasich, a former congressman, leads Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland by just two percentage points, 49% to 47%, among likely voters — a statistical dead heat.

“There’s certainly an uptick in excitement on the Democratic side, which has allowed the race to become more competitive,” said Eric Rademacher, co-director of the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati, which conducted the poll for a group of eight Ohio newspapers. “It could break either way,he said. The poll has a 3.3 percentage point margin of error.

The White House has put a huge emphasis on this race, with President Barack Obama participating in three events for Mr. Strickland this year, including a big rally in Columbus with First Lady Michelle Obama just last weekend. Vice President Joe Biden has also spent a lot of time in Ohio – five events with Mr. Strickland. Mr. Obama and Mr. Biden plan to wrap up campaigning a week from today with a rally together in Cleveland . . .

2. I think the governor's races aren't as important to many folks here
. . . as the races for the House and Senate. We tend to focus more on the individual races as they become closer or more relevant to the national picture or the balance of power.

4. um
. . . maybe it's because DU doesn't have 1 million dollars to promote it?

I've been following this race here and elsewhere in the news, though, so it's getting through on some level.

6. oh, I agree they're important
I'm just trying to reason why folks here (and elsewhere) aren't as focused on our gubernatorial candidates as the poster thinks they should be. Although, some states do zero in on their governor's races and put the others on the back-burner.

7. Perhaps it is because the Congressional elections are
so out of wack this year.

I have never seen so many people running for office this
year that perhaps need to be on medications. It seems there
is a contest to see who can be the most insane.

They are lucky and don't
have to live in Ohio. It's unbelievable to me that a Crook from Lehman Bros. is leading this race by 2 pts. This demonstrates how stupid the people in Ohio are.

Plus the Senate race....the repugnant, Portman, was W's Trade Rep who sent Ohio jobs to China....he is going to win easily....52 to 39 was what I saw today.

I just don't understand how people can be so easily fooled and manipulated. I swear if Kasich becomes governor, I will seriously think about moving. People will be dying the streets.

10. When republicans win majorities in state house, they gerrymander
which is why Grayson's in trouble, and why Boehner can rule for 20+ years.
