1. I think it's brilliant you are doing up an editorial on this subject. Have you X-posted to the
Vet and Poverty forums yet?

2. I see them in my community
They are always there among the clients who show up for our quarterly Outreach program for homeless vets. Like the male clients, they come seeking help with housing, employment, healthcare, PTSD, substance abuse, and more, and they often have a special need for sexual abuse counseling.

Homeless women vets also are regular patrons of the local food bank/resource center. Yet, even moreso than their male counterparts, they remain invisible to many.

Thanks for the thread and the great links, Beth!

6. I get so upset when people fail to recognize this

turning their heads...telling me that individuals need to help these people, not the government.Individuals in my area could give a crap about veterans....and female vets were just "asking for it". Homeless vets are a non-issue.

Thanks,Bob.

7. We have a home for female veterans not too far from where I live.
http://www.soberhousing.com/ourHouses.html

All of these are modeled using Oxford House rules and funding.

Our VFP chapter also set up and oversees the operation of the Oxford House on Hooper Street in Chelsea.

9. we don't. the homeless facillities we have limit families. Most of the homeless females
I have encountered through NCHV live out of a vehicle or on someone's couch.

Texas isn't real big on supporting their vets,I hate to say...although one of my neighbors told me yesterday it is the duty of individuals, not the government.I asked him where I could send these females with families for help with substance abuse, child care, finding jobs...he told me to find out for myself.."Put up or Shut up".

Yeah.
they support the troops.
