Lunch with the Old Farts
As many of you know, I am a senior and live in a seniors development. Nice area ~~ way too many Repukes, tho. My pals and I are the librul group. Thank gawd there are still some 60s hippies around who have NOT changed!

So, a group of us are out having lunch the other day and the subject of "teh gay" came up. You know the deal ~~ oh, nothing wrong with being gay, they should have some rights, etc...and then this bullshit starts: One of the group who has a son says, "Well, I think that gays should have rights, but I would be very upset if my son beame gay." And...the bullshit went on from there until it got to me. My remark?

"I could not care less if my son were gay. What would bother me? If he was a Republican."

:hi:

5. Kinda of a 50/50 deal on that...
...my librul pals loved it. The Repukes present? Glad we were at IHop since the jaws hitting the table mostly landed on Pancakes!

4. Those of us who came to political consciousness in the 'sixties
had such tough going we can't go back.

Wish I could go to lunch with you guys. I bought a dashiki dress the other day -- could I wear that to lunch???

6. All manner of dress welcome...
...I had on jeans and a tank top and wearing clogs. My Buddy Holly hornrims topped off the ensemble.

7. Next time you're out at lunch,
start a round-robin discussion of exactly when you each decided to be heterosexual. Assuming you are, of course. But really delve into the "choosing to be gay" meme.

8. I have used that question at least 100 times.
I am straight, but had a very close friend who was gay ~~ and a long, long time ago he and I had the conversation about "choice." That was the first thing my friend Edward said to me, he asked me, "So, when did you choose to be straight?" In less than 2 seconds flat, the issue of whether or not being gay was a choice was settled for me. Put it in perspective totally ~~ I never chose to be straight anymore than my friend chose to be gay. People just are what they are.

9. Superb!
Could also go with:

Homosexuality isn't a choice. Being a Republican IS.
