7. I thought so, too.
Granted, I could have done without a lot of the scatological stuff. The port-o-john bungie and the train volcano stunt were a tad too disgusting for my tastes. But I laughed my ass off at the rest of the movie. It was one of the better uses of 3D I've ever seen. The use of high speed/slow motion cameras was pretty brilliant as well. I recently invested in a 3D projector. I can't wait to see it in the comfort of home.

33. But if "OW! MY BALLS!" were to replace Glenn Beck's show it wouldn't be ALL bad.
I envision it as a "franchise" show, like CSI: (your city here). You could have OW! MY BALLS!: Congress, OW! MY BALLS!: Goldman Sachs, OW! MY BALLS!: Fox News, OW! MY BALLS!: Highland Park..... Get Simon Cowell to host it, and I think we're looking at a hit!

the head, poking one another in the eye, etc - is actually assault, or at least abusive behavior, for others.

Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 07:13 PM by Obamanaut
look how often these are demonized.

Extreme "wrestling" on teevee and movies isn't real, but how many teenagers have injured themselves attempting those same tricks.

It is perfectly fine to have these all in the public view, but perish the thought that little Johnny gets hit with a ball while playing dodge ball on the school playground.

Who doesn't want to laugh these days, and who can honestly get a laugh from watching Dane Cook or Carlos Mencia? Yeah, Jackass is stupid, and yeah, I'd rather be in a real car wreck than watch it, but seriously, what else is there?

Stuff like this has always been popular and always will be.

I find it amusing that people look down their noses at it.

There were more men but women enjoyed it.

But I did see this scenario more then once this weekend. Couple comes in to see Paranormal Activity 2 but it's sold-out and the guy excitedly turns to his lady-friend and says, "Let's see Jackass!"

Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 03:42 PM by AnArmyVeteran
I saw Jackass 3D and it was hilarious. Yeah, it was disgusting, juvenile, ridiculous and grossly offensive, but it was like 'Einstein' entertainment compared to the circus freak show of republican mutant zombies running for political offices from coast to coast.

I'd vote for Johnny Knoxsville over any and all republican candidates. And I would LOVE to pull the lever to shoot a tea bagger candidate up in a shit-filled portapotty attached to a bungie! Hey Christine, wanna go for a ride? :)

Between Netflix and all the other DVD and downloadable movie options..it seems that actual movie goers are in the minority.

A theater can transport you out of the real world, even if it is just two hours. The atmosphere is so much better than watching a movie at home.

Many people I know have such large TV screens that the neighbors probably think it is a drivein movie theater.

and the newest HUMUNGOUS screen TVs come with Netflix already installed.

27. Eh
I think a significant portion of the fan base is young and not all the politically aware. They are probably watching Bam Magera(did I spell his name right?) on MTV rather than watch a second of Fox News. Generally the younger population tend to lean Democratic.

I remember when CKY2K was very popular with the younger crowd and many of the people in the series (such as Magera) teamed up with Johnny Knoxville and others to create the Jackass show and movies. I say they are pretty good but I prefer Viva La Bam. It is crazy the way he constantly destroys his house, even building a skate part inside the house!

It would be pricelss seeing Brck, Hannity or Limblah pulverized with fresh, stinky crap. They can easily spew out shit to their mindless listeners, but I'd love to see if they could survive being baptised by feces. But just like the fraud Sean Hannity cowardly running from being waterboarded all these cowardly right wingers would be too terrified to do it.

38. At one time, my father was the only registered Communist in East Texas
Yet when he and I get together the hoildays, one of the things we look for on TV is "Jackass" -- and this is a guy almost ready for the nursing home. We also both hold advanced degrees and work in typically liberal positions.

I assure you all that one can be intelligent, educated, and liberal, and still watch "Jackass 3D." One just has to remember what it was like to be a fifteen year old boy, and all of the glorious, gross stupidity associated with that condition.

I've never seen Jackass, yet I doubt I've missed anything that's already been done ten to the power of 32 times better.

But we like what we like, and (judging from responses here) I guess if we don't like one thing or another, we're either snobs ("elitist" is the word I think many wanted to, but didn't use) or simply uncultured to many people.

Oh well. People have different tastes, go figure...

51. That could work! Put a cardboard cutout of Palin with a huge pit in front of it.
As they all ran toward their beloved Sarah they would fall into the pit like stampeding buffalo. Palin is like a magnet and tea baggers are like steel filings, only the steel filings are smarter than tea baggers. They couldn't resist being pulled toward her even though they know there's a pit of death in front of her.

Wow nice stretch there. Personally I was never a fan of slapstick so I'm not a fan of Jackass, but my kids like it and I can see why. And frankly those guys are laughing all the way to the bank, doing really stupid shit. How much cooler does it get? You do crazy shit and get paid huge bucks for it.

It may not be your cup of tea, but these guys are not out there ripping people off, they aren't making political statements, they aren't hurting anyone besides themselves, and they are making millions of people laugh. Frankly I fail to see the downside.
