Former GOP Opponent Malone: Stay Away From Perry
Former GOP Opponent Malone: Stay Away From Perry
By Benjamin Swasey (@benswasey) Oct 25, 2010,Former 10th Congressional District candidate Joe Malone today harshly criticized the Republican nominee, state Rep. Jeff Perry, urging voters and other GOP candidates to stay away from the scandal-dogged Perry.

“Anybody who cares about decency oughta say, ‘I’m staying away from that candidate,’ ” Malone said on FOX25-TV this morning. He then called Perry’s much-publicized controversial actions following illegal strip searches of teenage girls by a subordinate Wareham police officer in 1991 “despicable.”

Perry has continually defended his actions following the incident and accused his political opponents of “mudslinging.” Malone was similarly critical of Perry during the pair’s congressional primary. Perry won that race with 62 percent of the vote.

At the 3:15 mark of the segment (below), Malone calls Perry a “flawed candidate,” citing scandal details “that will make your head spin.” Later, at the 6:35 mark, Malone elevates his criticism, telling voters and GOP candidates — in particular, gubernatorial challenger Charlie Baker — to stay away.
