People who "sound drunk" are generally casual drinkers. A true hardcore drinker is adept at faking being sober at the drop of a hat.

Not saying one way or the other if she was drunk (I have no idea), but basing an opinion on intoxication because someone "doesn't sound drunk" is foolish.

It certainly does seem like something one might do if one weren't behaving as their normal selves (the timing, the wording, etc...), and hadn't thought things through very much.
