McConnell: Ousting Obama Is GOP’s Top Goal
Posted on Oct 25, 2010

President Obama came into office with high hopes of reaching across the aisle to work with both Republicans and Democrats in Congress. The only problem with that plan is that certain high-ranking GOP operatives such as Mitch McConnell aren’t interested in joining in the spirit of bipartisan cooperation; in fact, according to McConnell, they’d prefer to make sure that Obama’s first term is also his last. —KA

Think Progress via Gawker:

Believing that the Republican strategy of opposition has played to his political benefit, McConnell is pledging to do more of the same if Republicans win back the Senate. In an interview with the National Journal’s Major Garrett, McConnell candidly acknowledged that he feels his “single most important” job is to defeat President Obama in 2012:

MCCONNELL: We need to be honest with the public. This election is about them, not us. And we need to treat this election as the first step in retaking the government. We need to say to everyone on Election Day, “Those of you who helped make this a good day, you need to go out and help us finish the job.”

1. Saying that makes this wimpist of wimps feel like a man
Do you all remember he was drummed out of the army because he was caught with his hand down the pants of a fellow soldier. I haven't. And yet he is against gays and lesbians.

5. And There Was Much Rejoicing Among The Villagers...
This is the corporate media's wet dream...non-stop name-calling and gridlock. The more contentious the better. Of course the GOTB's main focus is to destroy this administration and they're being helped by the beltway pundits who wants to show whose boss. They bought our democracy and it's gonna stay bought. Period. And from what I have seen while canvassing this year, many want it that way. C'est la vie...

8. Read my lips, McPaleman.
Lips . . . you know, those things you don't possess . . .

Whoever you asswipes put up in 2012 is going to be soundly thrashed by Obama; likely with a greater margin than he had cleaning up McFossil.

Think about this long and hard: More than a majority of the country thinks SarUH Palin is nothing more than shiny object trainwreck television material and only a handful of delusional nutjobs think she's a viable presidential candidate. Mitt Romney is a Mormon, which among your rabid fundamentalpatient following, is strike 1, 2 and 3. You only have 2 years to build someone up, and ruling out those two rout victims . . . sigh, shit ain't lookin' so good, Turtleboy.

Even before the election was over, some from the dominant culture tried to sabotage Mr. Obama so that he wouldn't be put in such a high position.

Barely after Inaugeration, different groups started voicing their "anger" before he could get anything done. Then some folks reveled in saying any derogatory, racist thing they can think of because of their displeasure with having a person of color as CIC. Some even treat Mr. Obama in a paternalistic matter in their suggestions of what he might do or say.

The sad thing is that some of the "anger" is merely a cover for racism. Let's face it. Folks were mad at W., but they were as mad with him as they are with Mr. Obama. Mr. Obama has faced death threats, racist signs, factions of his party turning against him, fair-weathered supporters, shouts at his conferences, people trying to undermine his authority, hangings in effigy, and many things more simply because of the position he is in. And when people do these things, they are propped up in the media while being treated as heroes.

What is worse is that people of color and other disenfranchised groups also suffer from this rage. But instead of turning the discussion of race into a national dialogue, every arrangement is made to "not see race" and pretend that "racism is over". Let's face it. It is a perfect cover to hide the most racist of acts because there are a plethora of people who use their privilege to get mad at any discussions of racism and try their damnedest to get those who talk about race to "pipe down".

The sad thing is that with their silence and complicity that goes along with hiding racist acts, they allow for the escalation of mistreatment of people of color from the POTUS on down.
