Group posts video of country star killing bear

An animal rights group has posted a video of country music star Troy Gentry killing a captive, tame black bear in Minnesota.

The group SHARK — Showing Animals Respect and Kindness — obtained the video from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through a lawsuit under the Freedom of Information Act, and posted it on YouTube on Monday.

Steve Hindi, president of the Geneva, Ill.-based group, said SHARK wanted to make the video public because it thought Gentry got off too lightly.

Gentry, half of the duo Montgomery Gentry, pleaded guilty in 2006 to falsely registering the bear as shot in the wild. He was fined $15,000 and put on probation for three months. He also forfeited the stuffed bear and the bow he used.

1. I hope he rots from the outside in.
First the itch. Then the scratch. Then the bloody, oozing sores.

2. It's shitbags like this that give real hunters a bad name...
.. along with the slob hunters and the drunken rednecks with guns who shoot at anything that moves... I won't even mention the participants of "hunts" at "game ranches".... :puke:

8. Or hunting bears with dogs.
The bear's instinct is to climb a tree....then the "hunter" shoots him out of the tree.
What they really like is the killing it makes them feel powerful.

12. Or running deer or hogs with dogs...
I've never hunted anything with dogs, but it's common practice with rabbit hunting, 'coon hunting and some bird hunting, none of which I do anyways. I don't even agree with hunting from tree stands, but that's just me. I hunt from the ground, using only camo and scent eliminators. I've had deer walk by me so close I could have tapped it on the ass with an arrow, and they never knew I was there.

Cheers to ya, Steve.

Oh, and obviously here's the obligatory "Troy Gentry is an uber-poseur country singer douchebag wanna be toughguy fuckwit"

9. Did he shoot the bear, or did he fight it 'fairly', using only his hands and maybe a small knife?
If a person kills a bear with only his/her hands, or with maybe a small pocketknife, then congrats, they can mount that bear and brag about it. It's almost impossible for a human to kill a bear this way, and the human is in mortal danger at all times during the incident.

However, if the person took the weasely, wimpy way, and shot it from a safe distance, then nope. No bragging rights allowed here.
