3. That's a hopeful sign, but don't read too much into it.

That's a normal pattern. Dems seem to vote early, and Dems show up on election day earlier, so every election afternoon everyone here begins celebrating our glorious victory. Then the Republicans show up later, as is their pattern (no idea why, except maybe that more Dems work odd shift hours), and by the end of the evening someone is always yelling "The votes were rigged!"

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a very good sign that Dem turnout is heavy, and it proves the media's talk of an enthusiasm gap is as inane as everything else they talk about. I'm just not relaxing yet--I've had my heart broken too many election eves, I guess. :)

Anyone who saw the Kentucky video no matter where they live and doesn't feel the need to get their asses to the polls is worthless. There is a lot at stake and I'm not just talking Kentucky.

People register as "independent" for a lot of very different reasons. In my younger years, I just didn't feel like letting the whole world know what my political affiliation was, although I almost always voted for the Democrat. There were a couple of times in the distant past when I felt the Republican was a better choice. I didn't get the importance of primaries back then.

"Undecided" is another thing altogether. I don't understand how anyone can actually be wavering between any Tea-bagger and even an otherwise crappy Dem. I'm not at all crazy about my Democratic Representative (Ben Ray Lujan, NM 3rd) but even though his Republican opponent is probably a pretty decent guy, he'd be forced to knuckle under to the Republican leadership.

I do sometimes think we ought to look forward to Republicans taking both houses, and then every single hour of every single day for the next two years make it crystal clear exactly which political party is doing the enormous damage that will be wrought upon this country.
