(like a court case which said that a person who died, years later, from an infection contracted while paralyzed, was killed due to the actions of the person who caused the accident which paralyzed the guy who died)

or how you can be tried for murder for injuring a pregnant woman, thus causing her to miscarry? (But not, of course, for a miscarriage caused from her eating food which was improperly packaged due to ignoring federal standards ...)
