Who needs rockets red glare, or the bombs bursting in air? Not I.

(Go Giants!)
(Mahalo Rangers for beating the Yankees!)

5. They killed a beautiful song with their blind patriotism!
It's so sad, and Tony should know better.

:)

12. I guess you don't go to many baseball games.
If you did, the song would be dead to you, just like it is to the rest of us who are not, well, you know.

11. I have to disagree, I think This Land Is Your Land This Land Is My Land
would be a much better National Anthem. Because I don't think god should only "bless" America.

GO RANGERS I have to root for the Rangers for finally getting to the World Series. So, hopefully they can pull off an upset.

34. Either that or "This Land Is Your Land" ... because it makes clear
that each of us has a vested interest in our country. The "SS Banner" is too war-specific, I agree, and practically impossible to sing.
"God Bless America" is a stirring song, but "God" should be left out of the national anthem entirely, IMO. That is, if we truly believe in the separation of Church and State. And I do.

18. Tony did a fine job.....
amazing his pipes are still so strong at 84...

the 91 yo woman I caregive for has fallen in love with his music
so I'm now reading his autobiography to her since she is blind.

We're having a lot of fun with Tony...
She'll be thrilled that he is still out performing.

20. I love Tony Bennett - he's from Astoria Queens, New York like me.
Every time I see him I think back to that SNL episode where Alec Baldwin was playing him...
And Tony Bennett was a "promising young singer" named Tony Benedetto (his real name).

"I dated a woman once that was 99% gorgeous! Then I took her shoe shopping. She took her shoes off and her toenails looked like a lined up row of BBQ Fritos!"

This is a classic.
Trust me.
