...This NEWS is getting so EFFFN predictable just before the election.....This story could have waited till next Wednesday to have been announced to the public.... This kind of information IMO is used to sway the vote.....If Bush was still President some people would say SEE!!! he is keeping us safe....Today those same PEOPLE will say SEE!!! Obama isnt keeping us safe.... This is the 5th election cycle since 9/11 and this kinda CRAP just happens to pop up whether it is a tape for OBL or the US military has taken out AQ number 2 AGAIN!!!!!

WASHINGTON – A Pakistani-born Virginia man was arrested Wednesday and accused of casing Washington-area subway stations in what he thought was an al-Qaida plot to bomb and kill commuters.

The bombing plot was a ruse conducted over the past six months, the FBI said, but 34-year-old Farooque Ahmed readily handed over video of northern Virginia subway stations, suggested using rolling suitcases rather than backpacks to kill as many people as possible and offered to donate money to al-Qaida's cause overseas.

The public never was in danger because FBI agents were aware of Ahmed's activities and monitored him throughout, the agency said. And the people that Ahmed thought were al-Qaida operatives were actually individuals who worked on behalf of the government, according to a federal law enforcement official who requested anonymity to discuss details of the case.

And the suspect was still in the "planning" stage... but they decided to arrest him 5 days BEFORE the election.

Not really. What mystifies me most is that the "conspiracy theorists" among us can find intent in the most benign things. Should the investigation have been wrapped up sooner? Or should we have let him get past the "planning" stage? Inquiring minds & all....:shrug:
