Another day, another "isolated incident' by GOP "security detail"
Why was this man, Jon Taylor of Louisa County, Virginia, being arrested and manhandled by police Monday?

Taylor said the Democrats were asked to leave by the coffee shop's owner. When they refused, authorities escorted them outside.

Eric Cantor's people are claiming it was a private event, and therefore OK to tell democrats to leave.

A private event..... in a coffee shop during the day

Good thing the police took full action against this guy, it looks like he was really about to hurt someone.
(sarcasm)

For people who love the constitution... they sure don't understand the first amendment.

Here is the video...

1. Isn't trespassing still a crime?

2. 50 years ago, a black face would be considered "trespass" in a public accomodation.
Now, being a Democrat will suffice!

(I am assuming that owner hadn't posted that the place was "closed for a private party")

4. "at least some of the Democrats bought coffee, which means that they were paying customers...."

7. Doesn't matter
"...the Democrats were asked to leave by the coffee shop's owner. When they refused, authorities escorted them outside."

The owner asked them to leave and they refused. They were then trespassing. Happens every week in bars across the country.

8. They get away with that at bars, because the cops will INVARIABLY
back up the bartender. And if the person has alcohol on his breath, he's already "90% in the wrong". But a coffee shop? (I'm assuming that he hadn't engaged in particularly obnoxious behavior other than wearing a political button)

5. If it's a public business, and they're open for business
then how is it trespassing? That seems to be the issue here.

If a democrat tried to hold a rally in a public business like this I bet you dollars to donuts the same law enforcement people would refuse to enforce that trespassing complaint because it's a public location. They'd say that anyone has a right to come in to a public cafe during business hours unless the owner closed it for business that day.

But because it's a republican event, rules don't apply. Rules never seem to apply to republicans.

3. so they told him to stop resisting even though he wasn't.
He was pinned to the car and helpless, and he had NO ABILITY TO RESIST. Yet they had a third guy come in and grab him by his HEAD, hang off of him by his head, and drag him down to the sidewalk, while one of the first two guys twisted his arm painfully behind him and they handcuffed him.

All while they repeatedly told him to stop resisting.

Is that about right?

So now they can deliberately file a false charge of resisting arrest. But isn't deliberately filing a false charge supposed to be illegal?

How much do you want to bet that they do it.

Why do they keep getting away with it?

10. Sorry.
Thought that link went directly to article.

Try this:

If this doesn't work, just type " Jon Taylor" in the search block and that will take you to the story.

11. Thanks!
I didn't mean to come off as "snippy", but I was getting ready to make a late breakfast, and didn't want to have to plow through it all to find it. (I never thought to look for the search engine!).

I don't know the rights`& obligations of someone who holds a public license/permit to operate a coffee shop. If it was a "private party", and set off in a clearly marked corner of the shop, then he'd probably be a "trespasser" (who had received "excessive treatment" by the cops). Otherwise.....?

12. No problem.
I didn't take it as snippy. I had to wade through to find it in the first place.

If it was advertised as a public event, then I don't know how they could have been forced to leave unless they were creating some sort of disturbance.

I don't think we've heard the last of this one.
