••• Poll shocker! - Scott McAdams now #2 in AK poll - Miller plunges to THIRD •••

This is not a joke.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1010/44312.html

Murkowski at 34%, McAdams up to 29%, Miller at only 23%. Miller got pounded by all the scandals of the last few days.

Given this startling development, I have just received an urgent message from Stella, a mysterious right winger from Texas. She sends me stuff sometimes. Here's what she said this time:

All right all you motor puss smash mouth libruls! Shutcher gator breath an listen up! I'll betchoo think things are pretty cozy for yuz. With Miller outa the picture, people doan need ta settle for second best lesser of evils Murgowski, I mean Murkowski, and can now feel free ta vote their conscience fer McAdams.

Well not so fast, you stinkin fluoridaters! Not so fast! Here's wut! That dang BLASTED McAdams is a commie puss librul SOCIALIZER an he ain't got no BIDNESS winnin no STINKIN elegshun. Asides. We're gonna get RID of direct eeeeelecTORal votin fer no STINKIN seNATers. 17th Amendment my ass! Time ta have the state legislaters pick the seNATers instead uh vuh bunch o' STUPID moose brain lunatics runnin LOOSE all over DERMACRITTIN the country. The Dermacrits got no BIDNESS takin this legshun way from the good, decent, gun toatin, head smashin Reeeepublicans!

Have you ever seen a commie drink a glass o' water? Vodka. That's wut they drink! NEVER water????? Do you know when fluoridation first began? 1946! How does THAT coincide with yer post-war commie conspiracy? THAT'S why Scott McAdams worked on a BOAT. Cuz seven tenths of this earth is WATER. He must have a desalinator on that boat. So he can stay pure while peddling commie fluoride to YOU!

And all that hogwash about turnin Alaska's wide open spaces into alternative energy like wind power? What is McAdams? Some kina friggin tree hugger? You know why we should chop down the very last tree in Alasker? So we can ship out THE VERY LAST WOODEN CHAIR.

Now THAT'S wut ah call free enerprise!

Doan get too big feryer britches, buster. Murgooski has lots of positions on the issues that are every bit as right wing as Miller. She may not pack a rod, but yer not gonna get rid of us right wingers so quick! Liberalism is unconstipyooshunal, buddy.

You betcha!!!!!!
You betcha!!!!!!
You betcha!!!!!!

So here's wut. Ifin you ain't fixin ta vote fer Lisa, you best stay HOME, fusterbrain. IF YOU KNOW WUTS GOOD FER YA. Second amendment remedies? You better believe it.

And what EVER you do, doan accuse us right wingers uv not bein able to SPELL, stupid!

Nuf sed.

2. You know the scandals are bad
when the people of Alaska stand up and go "Oh Fuck, that dude is screwed up". I don't know of any group of people more accepting of oddballs than the people of Alaska.

21. Is Alaska really a place where ex-cons, scammers and grifters go to hide?
It sounds like a state filled with Ted Kaczynskis living in remote cabins. I'm not saying they are all unibombers but it seems the state has more than it's share of rowdy, blue collar rednecks. If a dimwitted bimbo like Palin could be elected governor there it doesn't speak very highly of Alaskians.

26. There's some truth to that...
But it's not quite that bad. Alaska does seem to attract eccentric and/or adventurous types. And yes, people who think they can get away with more up here than in the states. Or get rich quick.

My parents moved here in the 50's (separately) before AK was a state. My dad to work with the Alaska Railroad, until he retired. My mom to work with the school district, until she retired. So they turned out to be mostly stable types, LOL.

I don't quite understand the Palin thing. She irritated the hell out of me. I watched as much as I could stand of the debates on public tv and she was so clearly outclassed by Tony Knowles I thought she didn't have a chance after that. He was knowledgeable, articulate and concerned while she just seemed aggressive and without substance. Interrupting him only to get in vapid talking points and face time.

The only thing that makes sense to me is Republicans were so desperate to keep the state in their hands after Murkowski tanked that they thought they could get a new start with a "fresh" face. Someone who seemed as unlike Murkowski as possible. How could they have known they'd have a hand in the possible sinking of the country via the Tea Party? Cripes! How fast things can roll downhill...

5. Yeah! McAdams' campaign must have had internal polls showing his gaining.
Now.... the rest of the moderates and Dems need to forget Lisa Murkowski and vote for Scott!

I actually think we are going to pull this one out.

11. Not to dampen anyone's enthusiam, but that poll has issues.
Edited on Thu Oct-28-10 10:00 AM by TwilightZone
The poll appeared to ask the opinion of 500 respondents — not registered or likely voters

It's quite possible that a) it's no more accurate than an internet poll, and b) it's an outlier.

To be clear, I hope Miller crashes and burns, but I'm not going to get my hopes up based on this one poll.

15. A poll that samples 500 random people who may or may not be registered voters
and makes no adjustments for electorate makeup is meaningless.

Without that data, this poll means nothing. The article even acknowledges that it's not a standard poll.

Perhaps we should do the same. Or, we could stick our fingers in our ears.

The Republican incumbent gets to keep her seat! But at least the OTHER Republican is no longer in second place.

Pardon me if I'm not doing the happy dance.

But as soon as they hear Miller is down, why, they will suddenly realize that......

Being Republican was good after all.................

29. Even though I'd like to see McAdams win I would still
get a kick out of seeing Murkowski beat Miller, if that's how it shakes out. It would be nice to have another one of Palin's anointed ones go down to defeat--especially in her own state. It would really drive home the limited reach of this dimwit's influence on the electorate.
