I can't seem to shake this positive feeling
As my thoughts simmer in this soup of polls that don't reflect

1. homes without land lines
2. an energized AA vote
3. an energized Latino vote
4. the effect of the many facets of the Democratic ground game.
5. the stench of "Scary Tea" filling the noses of independents as we close out the campaign.

Normally I would just be hoping that these items would create a better outcome.

But this time, I just can't shake a feeling of CERTAINTY that not only will this be
positive, but more positive than even the most optimistic forecasts.

I'm talking about something on the order of Grassley defeated in Iowa, Perry defeated in Texas
and even McCain going down in AZ.

I'm sorry, but I just can't shake this feeling.

2. Even if we lose this time, we will win down the line
The GOP ain't got shiite to offer (deregulation, smaller govt, war, drug war).
If they win this year, they will still have nothing to offer.
They will just obstruct Obama Center (right) agenda.
Since Obama's center right agenda really ain't worth shiite either, no biggie.
When 2012 comes along, I see an Obama landslide with some coat tails.
With re-election behind them, perhaps the DLC will allow some progress to take place.

(With our super majority we couldn't get single payer - we could get Bob Doles health care plan) - Losing now will be no biggie - we will get em next time..

7. I think that eliminating the filibuster abuse.....
changes the game. I think that the center-right aspect will disappear if the Leiberman's of the Senate can be ignored.

11. I have no problem with the filibuster
If someone want to stand and talk until they collapse, then go for it.

The USA needs a progressive majority to move America forward. Until we have that, we will have corporatism. Corporatism ain't all bad, I just think that socialism is better..

16. they don't do real filibusters in the Senate anymore
My problem with the filibuster is that only the Republicans use it.

23. I would like to see them force a real filibuster
the dems are so weak, and the GOP will fight to death over nothing..

24. I would prefer that over the current situation, but
since the Dems never use it anyway, and total gridlock with the Repubs is inevitable during the next session, elimination seems like the only reasonable option.

31. See? Good easy answers from Democrats
Unlike the Reoublicans, each of them are constructive.

And unlike Republicans, Democratic voters are doing all they can to ensure that these things never, ever, ever happen. 'Cause we gotta send that message, you know. We'd rather have teabaggers than Democrats who drag their feet, apparently

3. I feel good about it too and then I overheard a very conservative
woman at the mailboxes today, tell her friend she just was not going to vote at all for any Rs because of their nastiness. The stomping on that woman was un-called for, etc. I guess she's just going to stay home, didn't think much of her choices anyway..

12. Palm Beach County, Florida... Sink and Scott are still tied but at a
Dem meeting today, one of the commissioners (Aaronson) made the statement that Scott took the Fifth more times than Capone. Place went nuts with hilarity.

4. I am there with you. I waiting for the MSM to stop their constant touting
the death of the Democratic party and that the country wants to put the people back in power who screwed them in the first place and don't give a damn about them.

We all want social security to be there when we retire, who in their right mind would vote for someone who says it has to be cut?

6. The MSM isn't going to stop carrying water for the GOP, so that's why
the grassroots/Internet GOTV efforts are so important.

Of course, the Teabagger types tipping their stupid, racist, violent hand just in time to give people some last-minute pause doesn't hurt.

9. Been saying it will be
a pretty regular type mid-term.

Never fell for the 'death of the Republican Party' rhetoric in 08 and sure as hell didn't fall for the 'Republican landslide' nonsense of 2010.

10. McCain will go in again easy, but Brewer
could go down. Right now I am more hopeful for Goddard. Glassman has done a horrible campaign and it is certainly showing, but Goddard has finally figured out that blaming Obama isn't a winning idea and that focusing on Brewer instead is a better idea.

17. Weird. Me too
And I was one of the pessimistic ones everyone here was making fun of in 2008. I just can't make myself believe we'll lose the house. People can't be THAT clueless to vote in those nutjobs. I just refuse to believe it. I am pessimistically optimistic, whatever that means.

20. i know
when I was voting this morning it was mostly Dems that I know that were there...one tea guy who had never voted before seemed to have a bit of trouble with his registration...I wanted to tell him that his side wouldn't allow him to register this late or on voting day - if they had their way...they say it promotes cheating...but of course I kept my mouth shut, since it was a polling place...

A week before the election Burns (R) was supposed to be ahead in the race. On election day, Critz (D) won handily.

since way before any polling could have possible meaning.
I predict stammering statisticians and parsing pundits come Tuesday morning.

27. You mean Wednesday morning?
On that morning, I predict that it will be worse than many here imagine. But if we see Blue Dogs and DINO's swept away, replaced temporarily with idiot tea partiers, it's a step towards getting true progressives back in when President Obama is on the ballot again.

28. yes, but I feel for them
they have to determine the percentages for inclusion based on age, race, gender, and political category.....and most of them use weighting to compensate for the lack of cell phone only households/

I've seen polls that favor one cadidate by 6 points in LV and the other by 6 points in RV. I just don't believe it.

Like I hadn't thought of the "scary tea"; that's a good point, and a good phrase to describe it. I just have a general positive feeling from the turnout so far, but you've actually put your finger on why you feel that way.
