Big corporations are, in fact, holding off on hiring until after election

Had lunch with a former colleague of mine. We both used to work for one of the biggest consulting firms in the world. He told me that our former company was getting ready to hire 2,000 new consultants next year. This is unprecedented and would represent about a 20% bump in their current workforce.

I believe what has been discussed here, that corporations are waiting to pull the trigger on new-hires until after the election in order to crush Democrats. Consulting isn't even in the first wave of new-hires after a recession so I think this speaks volumes.

This has all been part of the right wing plan to take back congress, and the big corporations have been doing their part by not hiring, but I have also heard that many are working their current employees longer hours, and even on weekends in order to keep from hiring the new people they "really" need. Once the elections are over they will need to start hiring, and next year I think we will see a huge jump in new jobs. Not as many as we need, but a huge jump. The corporations can not afford to keep playing games until the "next" election if the republicans don't gain control of congress, and since they only seem to have a chance at the house, I don't really see what they can do without control of the senate. I see new data coming out saying there will NOT be a double dip, and we are working our way out of the recession slowly, but surely. For the last year now it has been a fear of a double dip recession put out by the right wing every few months in order to scare people. This is their last shot till the next election, and no matter what, companies are going to start hiring.

If Obama is suppose to be so good to Wall Street, if the stock market is doing well, why are the corporations so intent on
destroying the Democrats? If they are in need of 2000 hires that would indicate business is improving. Doesn't make sense
they would hold off hiring for what, to make a few more Repukes in the House look responsible?

It goes against the grain to think a corporation would hold off on making money for such an uncertain reason.

15. This is my point. Corps are about the bottom line.

If they're making money, in a position to hire thousands of new hires, they don't give a damn
which party is in power. Clinton's Administration is a perfect example. Right now cash is king.
Everyone is hoarding dollars because of the instability in the market. They have learned through
this recession they can squeeze more productivity out of fewer people because people are desperately
afraid of losing their jobs. But at some point they will simply have to increase staff if business requires
it and it will have nothing to do with paying homage to the almighty Republican party.

our country under their heel completely, and have no more opponents,
What do you think will happen? Insatiable greed and power are part
of their nature. Things may quiet down for a while, but then they'll
be at each other's throats before long. Each and everyone of them
would still want to be Numero Uno and have it all, remember? That
will not change. It is part and parcel of their sickness -- of the

I work at a university and we're waiting because we're worried that after the election budget cuts may be announced. They is nothing malicious in our attempt to be prudent.

18. on a lower note, I have it on good authority that a local (national chain) eatery

has put up a sign which they have no intention of honoring ... sign says "Now Hiring". But the manager said that the owners put that up with no intention of doing any hiring.

Same with a local "hiring satellite technicians - will train" sign ... someone I know with computer experience and some cabling capability has applied, hasn't heard a damn thing from them.

19. unless there's some miraculous GOP policy wins immediately after swearing in, this won't matter

big corps always hire after the first of the year. this won't reflect some big GOP victory. the Dems can rightfully claim that any hiring gains are due to improvements in the economy that we made.

the only way this conspiracy theory would hold up is if they didn't hire for another WHOLE YEAR, if and only if the GOP affects a significant change in policy -- and regardless of the Dems promises of a priori "compromise," they're not going to get any of the goodies they've promised their base...like, repealing healthcare and impeaching Obama. so, this is just so much pissing in the board room.
