Poll question: You're Kendrick Meek. What do you do?
We all know how this SHOULD have been handled, the support he SHOULD have gotten, but he didn't and that brings us to the reality now. So, given the state of things as they really are, what would you do?

1. The question should also be voiced if you were Crist, what would you do? /nt

2. Crist should give it to Meek
I know he won't, but since Crist won't claim which party he is aligning with, I'm going with the democrat.

3. Drop out only if Crist goes on record...
..and says he'll caucus with Dems. I realize a republican's word isn't worth shit, but hold his feet to the fire.

Anyone claiming he should drop out just because Crist may caucus with dems just because he posed for a photo with Obama once are delusional.

4. I would have dropped out two months ago.
But better late than never.

The main countervailing consideration is trying to get the vote out for other Democrats in the state. That would at least make me think twice, but I'm not sure its effect on Democratic turnout would outweigh the higher probability of keeping Rubio out.

5. I voed Other by mistake. Stay in the race for the sake of the downticket--and
make damn sure my supporters knew that the FL Democratic Party lost the race for me.

7. Give Crist a phone call.
Extract public compromise to caucus with Democrats. Bow out and endorse Crist if he does thusly.

10. Like it, but make damn sure he means it and that Meek supporters will be watching.
But--yeah.

18. IF someone else does? This is DU -- there will be threads o'plenty!
:hi:

You know what I just thought -- Crist may just win! We're assuming that if Meek stays in, Rubio wins, but there have got to be a lot of Floridians who are flip floppers on this and really won't make up their mind until they place their vote. Like here, some are solidly behind Meek, others solidly going to plug their noses and vote for Crist, then those who are still truly 'undecided'. Keeping fingers crossed.

And isn't it bizarre that many of us are hoping to see a win for Crist? Man. Politics. Surreal.

26. And why should Meek - or anyone - believe he'll hold to such a pledge?
Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 11:35 AM by JerseygirlCT
I don't think he'd feel in the least obligated to do so if it didn't further his own interests.

Potentially the same for the party.

11. At this point stay in
dems have already voted for him in early voting. Their vote would be totally lost now and there is downticket to think of too. If he was going to drop out it should have been weeks ago.

I'm really glad I'm not a Floridian to have to make this decision, I'm not sure who I would vote for. Hard not to vote for a good dem yet there is the Rubio factor.

12. Meek should face reality. He isn't going to be Florida's Senator.
So the question is - does he want it to go to Rubio or Crist. If he's a good Democrat, which I do not doubt he is, he should at this point face reality and do what's best for the party (and for Florida). Drop out and support Crist. Otherwise, he's handing the election to Rubio. Slice and dice it any way you like, but that's the hard, grim reality right now.

13. If I were Mr. Meek, I would have seen the writing on the wall last
September and bowed out.

He never really had a chance, he has wasted his money and the money that people donated to his campaign.

But that's just me, I would have made a deal to pay off the campaign debt as well as any loans to my campaign and walked away.

Too many people will blame him for Rubio's victory for him ever to get a chance at statewide office again.

21. I voted "go the distance". I've been thinking about what I would
do if I was a Florida voter and I think I would vote for Meek. Sometimes we just have to accept the loss and vote for the Dem. I'm not sure I'd feel good about voting "R", I'm 53 years old and have never done that before.

22. Now that Crist has proven himself untrustworthy (shocker, I know) he may as well go the distance
Based on recent polls, Democratic voters are taking all possibilities into account so they can decide who to drop from the race.
