My Analysis & Results of the Election Here in the Great State of Ohio!
I was in just disbelief as I saw the results as they came in, as I sat on my couch with my father in our rural eastern Ohio home, I just as my Father spoke about how screwed we were now going to be in the state of Ohio but as well as in the Congress as a whole. We spoke about how every piece of legislation that would be put through will be completely block by the Republicans unless it tax cuts for the wealthy.

As I went to My 8th District Poll in Ohio yesterday, as this would have only been my third time voting since I've been of legal age to do so, I felt a rush of enthusiasm and optimism, because I knew that I was in fact the number one person Republicans were praying would not show up because I'm 21 years old and a Proud Liberal Democrat and I support all Democratic Candidates in every election!

Yet I showed up and in fact just like many of you here on DU did, I worked my but off on The Governors Race, The OH SOS Race, The OH AG Race, The Coussoule campaign who was running against John Boehner here in my 8th district, as well as other local races. I knew it was go fing to be a tough road but I held my head up the whole time just hoping that my fellow Buckeyes are not as stupid or forgetful as the Republicans were expecting them to be. I knew many people some even Conservative that where even voting for Governor Strickland because he has been a bi-partisan Governor and has done a terrific job given the circumstance he came into. He has worked tirelessy on education reform, the economy and lowering the unemployment rate. His opponent was John Kasich who is now the new Governor-Elect, John Kasich is a Wall Street Veteran and a 22 year resident of Washington. Kasich knows nothing of the reality and the challenges that low income families like mine, who work hard and play by the rules, on the promise that their tomorrows will always be better than their yesterdays. John Kasich is Bob Taft, We Are Screwed in Ohio, here comes Re-districting.

Speaking of unfair elections, Unfortunately Mary Ellen O'Shaugnessy who was the Democratic Candidate for the currently Democratic held Secretary of States' Office was unfortunately defeated by Republican Congressman Jon Husted who only ran because it was proved that he did not live in the district in which he became a congressman in, after an investigation by the Ohio SOS's Office. Mr. Husted is not qualified to be the Secretary of State by any means. Now SOS elect Jon Husted has vowed to end any form of Early Voting which undoubtly favors Democratic candidates. He will turn a blind eye on fairness in the 2012 Election. Ohio will be a repeat of 2004 in 2012 I can guarantee you that. He opposes any form of paper ballots by means of voting except absentee and provisional ballots. This Republican Victory is probably the scariest of them all...FOR THE ENTIRE COUNTRY!!!

In the United States Senate Race, an Open Seat Vacated by George Voinovich, really not that surprising all the while still very disappointing, OH Lt. Governor & US Senate Candidate Lee Fisher was defeated by a huge margin by Republican wealthy businessman Rob Portman who outspent Lt Governor Fisher by about 5 million dollars donated to him by the Sarah Pac and other extreme Right Wing groups. I still cant help but believe that if current OH SOS Jennifer Brunner had been our Democratic Candidate for US Senate than we would have killed Portman. The Lt.Gov Fisher has never been elected to a political office in the state of Ohio ever, while Jennifer Brunner beat Ken Blackwell in 2006 who was even more extreme the Sen elect Portman, and she beat him by a huge margin! Maybe next time though....

Also Another Extremely Disappointing Defeat for Democrats in Ohio here is the Attorney General's election. Democrat Richard Cordray, whom I have personally met on several occasions, who was also endorsed by nearly every major Police Office & Sheriff's Departments around the state as well as all of the Unions and Every major Newspaper. AG Cordray was defeated in a close race against former US Senator Mike Dewine who we kicked out of the Senate here in Ohio in 2006 because he is the same old washed up failed policies of George W Bush clone. He came to my college and wanted to talk about Law Enforcement, yet the minute I stood up and asked him why he would waste millions in taxpayers dollars to join in on the frivolous law suit against the Health Care Bill, I asked him if he truly believes that hardworking families like my family and countless families and fellow students sitting here in the classroom did not deserve to have healthcare and if he felt that it is morally right for insurance companies to deny someone coverage due to a pre-existing condition.-----His stuttering shocked half answer to me was that he agreed health care needed to be reformed but the bill that was put through is Unconstitutional. So I stood up and asked him, why have you declined to debate AG Cordray 3 separate occasions on the Constitutionality of the Health Care Bill? He Didnt Answer Me Of Course

There is no doubt in my mind that Ohio went Red last night. I just hope that in the next 2 years people will see that the Republicans are 500 times worse than Republicans and Buckeyes come back to their senses and put Democrats back in office in not only Ohio, but throughout the United States as well.

I haven't been in this much of a state of mourning since the 2004 Election results when Bush defeated Kerry. It literally took me a good few weeks to get out of a deep depression and state of disbelief of how my fellow Americans can be so damn stupid. I know that time heals all wounds but the results across the country but especially in the state that I worked my ass off campaigning in for Democratic candidates...hurts really bad, its almost like losing a really good friend.

Please pray for my state, the great state of Ohio, as well as other states and the United States as a whole who are going to suffer the rule of extremely right wing republicans!

1. I hear you, and I am so sad for you and my family and friends there...
It is a sad day for Ohio.

Like you, I hope Ohioans will come to their senses and vote Dem next time. Maybe, with enough education and outreach, they will...

3. I Look At It This Way

I'm here in Columbus, and like you, I'm shocked and disgusted at what has just happened here in Ohio. And probably the most appalling piece of information came today, when I found out that Kasich has already begun building his staff, and has hired...................former members of the TAFT ADMINSTRATION. That's right, the most corrupt, conniving, criminal, incompetent, and unpopular Governor in Ohio's HISTORY (Taft, who at one time had a 19% approval rating, and was hated even by my cravenly right-wing father-in-law, who loves EVERYTHING about Republicans), and this guy is populating his advisory staff with the people who helped that happen.

But here's why I'm not completely depressed. You see, these next few years are actually going to be a lot of fun. You know why? Because now we get to scream from the rooftops at every opportunity, "WHY HAVEN'T YOU FIXED EVERYTHING YET???" See, the Republicans set the bar. They set the standard. You get 2 years to fix EVERYTHING that's wrong or you get voted out. They made the rules, now they get to play by them. And like I've said many times before, the people of Ohio aren't going to be satisfied with hearing them say, "I have a plan," like they did all during the election (and meanwhile they'd never tell anyone what their plan was--guess why). Now they can't just sit back and say No to everything. They have to fix the problems. And if they don't, they'll be gone too. This is going to be the shortest "resurgence" in history.

But take heart, Ohioans, in 2012 we'll get to celebrate the re-election of our President, the re-taking of the House, and in 2014, we Ohioans will get to celebrate the ousting of John Kasich by Governor Richard Cordray. I'm calling my shot. Write it down.
