Remember, Remember by Cindy Sheehan

“….To see my nemesis, Nancy Pelosi be knocked off of her perch after just a few years being up there was personally satisfying, because I have been trying really hard to pull her along to a more peaceful and progressive side. But as much as I loathe her and the Robber Class she belongs to, Nancy was only this year’s patsy, and it looks like she will be rewarded for being the fall "guy" of her class this term by retaining a leadership role in the House despite presiding over a 60 seat loss on the 2nd of November….What do I mean that Nancy was the fall-“guy” for the establishment this time?....With a Democratic landslide in 2008, expectations were high for some real change: change we could sink our teeth into. Young people and people of color who have felt disfranchised by the system went out to vote in droves, and after nearly two years of economic plunder, the bloom was off that lily, so they didn’t come back. Nancy Pelosi’s House could have easily taken steps to hold the Republicans accountable for the Bush years, but instead blamed them for the horrid state of affairs....People are tired and frightened and see the government as not only the disease, but as a cure to that disease. When has it ever been healing to cure a disease with more of the same disease?.....House Democrats everywhere complained that not only did they have a Republican rival, but they also had to run against Pelosi, Reid, and Obama and when your own caucus starts to abandon you, you know you’re in trouble…..So, Miss Nancy took one for the team, and according to a report in her hometown paper, and biggest fan, the SF Chronicle, she is not only NOT going to resign, but she is seeking the position of House Minority Leader with no opposition. No wonder, all the reports about Nancy's demeanor during the final days of the election season stated that she was calm, cool and collected: the mob rewards it's most loyal and obedient members….This all begs another question, too—why did the Republicans have to take back control of the House in a very convincing fashion?….Iran? Yemen? Harsher austerity measures? Privatization of Social Security? Extensions of Robber Class tax cuts? The further dismantling of public education? Further police state controls? Further demonization of immigrants? ….Our electoral system is jury-rigged so the elites always win, and the rest of us always lose; and we are propagandized to near death by the psychological terror of Madison Avenue. I am afraid that the only way out of this is through a workers' (or those desperately seeking employment) revolution to overthrow the system……How long are we going to allow the Robber Class to prosper and murder without an organized and effective response?”

1. You must be kidding. Please do not post such crap. It's insulting. She supported
a Republican, probably a teabagger, in that race -- and I am supposed to be interested in what she has to say? I used to admire and respect her -- but that was a long time ago.

4. Actually, Cindy is a Nice Lady
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 04:37 PM by YankeeLeft7x
I met Cindy Sheehan last year and she is quite genuine and real.

I do not judge her as harshly as you might. I believe the left and Democrats have made a huge mistake by abandoning the peace movement since Obama and the Democrats have held power the past few years. I think Cindy Sheehan is quite accurate on this point.

Obama has continued Bush's wars and has allowed former Bush officials off the hook regarding torture and other human rights abuses.

Nancy Pelosi took impeachment of Bush off the table. It's too bad that so many liberals and Democrats bash Cindy Sheehan rather than taking out similar anger out on the Democrats for continuing such costly military adventures.

Peace.

Obama signs bills for record Pentagon, Homeland Security spending

By Patrick Martin
30 October 2009

"....In a ceremony Wednesday, US President Barack Obama signed legislation authorizing the largest ever military budget, a gargantuan $680 billion for the Pentagon, including $130 billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. On Thursday, he signed a spending bill funneling another $44 billion into the Department of Homeland Security, to strengthen the apparatus of state repression within the United States...."

7. The other option is worse, and there are no other options.
I definitely understand criticisms of Obama. What I don't understand is this idea that choosing the worse option is somehow a good way of expressing displeasure. Seems to me that is exactly what the right wants!

so I dearly wish she would shut the ever living fuck up. That's just me, however.

25. No it doesn't.
But it should earn her a modicum of RESPECT whether or not you agree with her. This thread and the comments about her are one of the most disgusting things I have seen on DU. It's no wonder we are losing elections and ground in general, who the fuck wants to be associated with people who call a woman who lost a son in an illegal immoral and pointless war a "piece of crap".

and she has as much a fucking right to speak out as you do. So you can continue to wish she'd go away, she can continue to say what she wants and I can continue to believe that you and the people like you on this thread have not sacrificed shit compared to her.

21. So here is a woman who's
Edited on Sun Nov-07-10 11:28 AM by walldude
been slowly going insane after watching her son die after being used as cannon fodder in an illegal war that benefited no one but the very rich and powerful. She has spent years trying to reconcile her loss with the country that caused his death, and you call her a piece of crap.

So let's recap. Woman loses son. Woman finds out son was used as cannon fodder in an illegal war. Woman stands against the people who took her son away.

Liberals call her a piece of shit. Oh sorry "crap".

I bet you are really proud of yourself too.

29. Then perhaps her fan club should get her some professional help instead of clapping like seals...
... and acting like she's a sacred cow every time she says something amazingly stupid.

If not, and they continue to let her say things that make her look like an idiot, they should be prepared for people to call her one.

28. Cindy Sheehan is fast developing an unhealthy obsession with Nancy Pelosi.
Look, she's a grieving mother, and I don't begrudge her that--but Nancy Pelosi didn't kill her son.
