Black Friday and record corporate profits...
Tomorrow, the corporations hope their records continue to climb.

It is rather unfortunate and unnecessary that they even have to worry about such stuff. If they had only taken 4% or 5% of their profits and gave it to their employees in the last 2 or 3 years, then there would be a lot more money in the economy to buy stuff with. As it was, they decided it all belonged at the top.

Take it all, hogs! We'll starve!

6. I could pretend to protest Black Friday but as I have made it not only a habit but an active goal
I won't claim it as a statement in response to their acts of iniquity.

5. My husband is in sales and refuses to patronize any store
that is open on a Holiday or makes their employees come in at ungodly hours.

He will of course be working Black Friday but, normal business hours.

12. Yup. Wife's going to go to Macy's at 4am
*sigh*

And she wants to go to Gap at the same time. (both stores are at the local mall that opens at 8am, but Macy's has its own doors to outside)

4. Boycott! Let's not aid and abet the greedy bastards.
Do you really need the latest gizmo gadget thingy? Nah, there will be more sales in January. Don't help their bottom line for the end of this year.

For my Granddaughter who needs dental work, works 66 hours a week at 2 jobs and has no benefits at all, I will be giving her the gift of paid for dental work. She doesn't need a pair of Uggs, they wear out. Or a bra from Victoria's Secret - Penney's or Kohl's will work fine. We only get one set of teeth, now that's something I'm willing to pay for.

7. Last year, in Florida, we noticed people camping out in front of Best Buy 2 weeks before "black Fri"
with tents, and COleman Stoves....wtf? 2 weeks??? And there were several people, maybe 7 or so. And they looked very poor. I couldn't figure out why they were waiting in line for 2 weeks....perhaps they've been saving all year for some Black Friday sale?

So I commented to the Cashier how I was surprised that people were camping out 2 weeks early, and asked what it was they were giving away so that I could get in line.

Cashier told me that those people weren't sitting in line to buy anything. They were homeless folks that were "hired" by non-homeless people to hold their place in line. They were paid maybe $30 to sit out there for a week or 2, with their tents and coleman stoves, and then early Friday morning, the "renters" would come in, take their assumed place in line and send their "rented people" on their way.

Really? Really.

I had never seen anythign like that in my life, but it apparently very common in Tampa/St Pete. THe idea that some doo-dad gadget piece of shit is worth "hiring" a person...it's sickening on so many levels.

I am 34, and did "black friday" shopping ONCE in my life. I was 16, my friend and I went to Walmart---it opened at SEVEN AM (not 2..or 4AM). There were no lines to get it. I bought some underpants and a boombox. That was it. We were out the door by 9 and on our way.

Fuck that nonsense. The sales are bogus, they only have 2 of the items in stock, people get all stupid and shit...it's ridiculous. Bread and Circus.

10. I will be frequenting
a local tattoo parlor that does exquisite work and has offered a BF special of buying a gift certificate for whatever and they'll double it. My next tat is $80, so I'll be buying it for $40 and tipping them the rest when I get the work done. It's a win-win.
