Kiwi refuses 'naked' body scan
Source: Central Leader

A New Zealander who was held up at Heathrow Airport for a day after refusing to get a body scan is returning home after being put onto another flight.

Aucklander James Holder, 28, was selected at random for additional security screening after walking through the metal detector without disruption on Wednesday.

"The airline staff, while sympathetic, couldn't override the security officers."

In New Zealand the body scanners are prohibited under the Aviation Crimes Act.

2. I lived in NZ for three years, they are a pretty independent lot.
The South Islanders were tough as nails too.

5. I agree with that
My fist experience was hunting with an 80 year old guide. He was going up the mountain like a billy goat and apologizing for being slow because he had put a rock splinter through his kneecap. That old man ran my ass off. He was from Dunedin.

I love those folks. You couldn't ask for a better lot.

4. Gee people are impulsive and emotional
Moving to NZ? Over this alone?

What are the odds that Al Qaeda will attack there? They can afford lighter security. Europe and the US not so much.
