Music legend Willie Nelson was arrested this morning for allegedly possessing six ounces of marijuana.

Nelson was busted at 9:00 AM at a Border Patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, TX. Nelson was in his tour bus, traveling from California to Austin, when he was detained.

He was booked into the Hudspeth County Jail on a $2,500 bond and posted shortly thereafter.

8. K&R for all his farm aid concerts and bringing attention to
the wave off farm forclosures inflicting this country....

Now he works providing locally grown foods in school meals......

"The National Farm to School Network reports that there are more than 2,500 farm to school programs in all 50 states nationwide. That number is growing as more schools, parents, teachers, children and farmers reap the benefits of bringing healthy, farm fresh, locally grown food into school cafeterias. The Governor of North Carolina recently declared October "Farm To School Month"<1> in the state and the White House and U.S. Department of Agriculture jointly celebrated "National School Lunch Week" and "National Farm to School Week" earlier this month, with particular emphasis on using healthy, locally grown foods in school meals."http://www.farmaid.org/site/apps/nlnet/content2.aspx?c=qlI5IhNVJsE&b=2723877&ct=8842627¬oc=1

11. patrol checkpoints are often near the border
as was this one. I cannot imagine what happened here. Usually they just come on board and look around a bit. Was the weed not hidden? Strange.

Problem is that willie has prior busts on his record. This could put him in jail. In texas, 4 oz to 1 lb is a state jail felony 180 days - 2 years.

With his priors, he may not get probation. Heck, I think he may still be on probatio from the lousiana bust. Man of willie's age has to consider his health.

He has done more to legitimize MJ than almost anyone.

31. Put Willie in jail in Texas?
Doubt it. He is one of the closest things to royalty down there. Anyone elected would be voted out of office, including the governor for not providing a pardon.

12. There are plenty of checkpoints. Especially either side of El Paso on I-10.
And on several back roads in southeast Arizona.

Well away from the border with Mexico.

50 or 60 miles north of the border in some cases.

They aren't pleasant to go through.

Lots of cameras and, at night, lots of seriously bright lights.

In your face.

24. It would be at least $1500 here in Anchorage
I haven't bought any in quite a while, but the last time I did it was at least $250 to $300 per oz. Is it cheaper down there in the Lower 48?

With it so expensive here, one is almost compelled to grow his/her own. Not that I would know anything about that, of course.

29. That's generous
Was at the dispensary the other day, saw $275/oz of their top brand as a "special". I'm thinking 350/oz. I usually buy 1/8.

33. I guess I've just
been out of the market for a very long time, not that I ever was in the market all that much.

No wonder the growers down here in CA were opposed to Prop 19. It would have allowed people to grow their own.
